Background

There’s a tool for every job, but professional residential contractors and tradesman and hardcore DIYers know that the best tool for every job is a Rockwell. Rockwell Tools are built to last and have the warranties to prove it. Because whether you’re a contractor building new homes, a maintenance crew chief deep under the earth in an industrial mine, or just fortifying your kids’ treehouse, you need power tools that you can rely on to get the job done–not just today, but every day.

Rockwell knows that no matter the job, quitting is not an option – and they’re standing behind that credo with an industry-leading 20-year warranty on their Brushless Motor Cordless Professional Power Tools line. Think of all the projects you could not just take on, but knock out of the ballpark with the guarantee and trust of a Rockwell tool.

So what does ‘quitting is not an option’ mean to you? Let’s hear your awesome Ideas for Videos that show how professionals and DIYers can benefit from complete trust in their tools.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create a 30-60 second Video (with a 15 second cutdown) that explores Rockwell’s credo, “Quitting is not an option.” Your Video should find a creative way to demonstrate that Rockwell’s 20-year warranty is a real game changer, especially for residential contractors and tradesmen.

NOTE TO IDEA SUBMITTERS: Rockwell wants to know how having 100% trust in your tools can help out in the day-to-day lives of professional residential contractors first and foremost. They’re NOT looking for ideas about isolated workers in extreme conditions on in exotic locations (although the tools work great there, too!)

NOTE: The 30 to 60 second Video and 15 second cut-down are both due at the close of the Video Phase.  Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

Details

This Project will be worth a total of $35,000 and consists of 3 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for Rockwell’s new line of power tools with a 20-year warranty in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging.  The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Video(s) based on their Idea. (That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $600, the 2nd place Video $450, and the 3rd place Video $362.50) – see Video Phase Payout details for more information.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

The two (2) most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $2,000 to help create the Video.  Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $10,250, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $18,000 First Place Video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The two (2) winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 60-second Video based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The 30 to 60-second video and 15-second cut-down are both due at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

The Judges will score the two (2) winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the two (2) Pitch winners will receive prizes.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $18,000; and 2nd place $12,250 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable).
