Q-tips® cotton swabs are deceptively simple in design – high quality cotton wound around the tips of sturdy flexible paper sticks. This soft, high quality tool is so versatile it can be used for makeup, around the home for cleaning, and is perfect for arts & crafts. Q-tips® cotton swabs have the most soft cotton at the tip, providing extra cushioning and a delicate touch. Every home has Q-tips® cotton swabs, and now they would like the Tongal community to remind the world just how many uses there are for Q-tips® cotton swabs. The goal of this project is to create a video that inspires people to look at Q-tips® cotton swabs and see the multitude of uses, both utilitarian and creative. Ears may jump to mind first, but this project is meant to explore all of the OTHER ways that Q-tips® cottons swabs can be used.
Create a 15- to 60-second video that captures the unexpected versatility of Q-tips® cotton swabs. You can either show variety OR stick to one theme and focus on why Q-tips® cotton swabs are great tools for that purpose.
Here’s some food for thought – In case you didn’t know, Q-tips® cotton swabs are great for….
• Family care: Applying antibiotics to minor cuts, cleaning hard to reach places, caring for a newborn’s needs. Pets need Q-tips® cotton swabs too - when applying clotting agents to a cut dew claw or clearing sleep from their eyes.
• Home care: Clean the tiles, the posts of earrings, small crevices in jewelry, the computer keyboard, remove dust from lenses, or any number of hard to reach places or small items.
• Beauty: Expertly apply eyebrow liner or smooth away a clump of mascara with Q-tips® cotton swabs. Erase any “oops” with Q-tips® cotton swabs when seeking perfectly painted nails.
• Arts and Crafts: Q-tips® cotton swabs are perfect for any project. Disposable paint brushes for children or touch ups on chipped paint, model work -- anything that needs detail and a soft touch.

The project will be worth a total of $15,000 and consists of two phases so regardless of your skill set you have a chance to contribute and be rewarded.
PHASE 1: CONCEPT – In 250 characters or less, give us your concept for the 15 to 60-second video. Your concept should include at least one creative use or role for Q-tips® cotton swabs. Remember a concept is not a detailed script – it’s the fun idea for how the video should appear and a brief synopsis of what should happen in it. Each of the 10 winning concept creators will earn $200 in addition to a 5% residual on every winning video their concept is used to generate.
PHASE 2: VIDEO – Select one of the winning concepts and make a video in whatever style you like- animation, live action, stop motion, musical, parody, action adventure. Creativity and originality are key - you want to show the unexpected and unending uses for Q-tips® cotton swabs. Funny helps but showing a softer side works too. Adding in a surprise/unexpected use for Q-tips® cotton swabs is always a plus. Your challenge is to think of Q-tips® cotton swabs in ways that don’t immediately jump to mind- so avoid the obvious depictions involving ears.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with Audiosocket, a boutique music licensing agency representing more than 1,400 emerging bands, composers and record labels. Audiosocket tracks will be available to Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Tongal members' submissions to the Q-tips® Project. Tongal members are encouraged to browse the Audiosocket catalog, available at http://audiosocket.com/. If you are interested in using a track from the Audiosocket catalog, as described above, please emailmusic@tongal.com for account and password info which will allow for the download of up to 3 tracks.
--Exposure: All videos that qualify for consideration of prizing will be posted on the Q-tips® Facebook and YouTube pages. Videos will be staggered to Facebook and YouTube throughout the launch based on community response (and quality of submissions).
1. Videos MUST be over 15-seconds in length and MUST NOT exceed 60-seconds in length. Preferred format is HD 720p 16x9. Acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv. Acceptable codecs are H.264 (MP4), MPEG-4, H.263, MPGV, WMV, DivX.
2. All work must be your own and free of any copyrighted material.
3. In video copy, must use the word “Q-tips”, not Q-Tips, Q Tips, QTips etc.
4. In video copy, the word “Q-tips” must be supported with “brand” or “cotton swabs”, if used outside the logo. Therefore, copy should read “Q-tips cotton swabs” or “The Q-tips brand”. Cotton Swabs should not be referred to as “Q-tips.”
5. Submissions cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of Q-tips.
6. Submissions must not portray the Q-tips® brand in a negative way, the determination of which will solely reside with the Q-tips brand.
7. Submissions must be in the English language or subtitled.
8. Limit 5 submission(s) per member, per phase.
9. You must be at least eighteen (18) years or older to enter.
10. Minimum twenty (20) videos or the contest will repost for seven (7) days.
11. Logo and artwork for the packaging will be provided in the Art File link and either the Q-tips logo or packaging should appear somewhere in the film – you must use actual Q-tips® cotton swabs and not a generic cotton swab.
12. Any use of an Audiosocket track obtained through Tongal in connection with the Q-tips® Project that is outside of such Tongal member's submission to such project is strictly prohibited.
