Background

Listen up, Loin Lovers. Pork is awesome. I mean, who’s dementedly delectable mind was even responsible for the BBQ Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese? Or tighten up your bootstraps and pop in to any one of the great U-S-of-A Pork Fests this summer to revel in our patriotic love for all things pork. It’s true! Pork is so zeitgeisty, we even bought it as a viral April Fool’s joke. But that’s not what we’re here for today, well, that’s only the beginning:

Now there’s a whole lot going on in the news these days, so you may have missed the announcement that Pork is getting a makeover at the meat case. Or maybe you didn’t know what the heck the word “nomenclature” meant, so we’ll break it down for you: Pork Cuts Have Undergone a Name Change

From here on out, your casual-cool self can order the Ribeye Pork Chop (previous name: Rip Chop) on your 5-star dinner date and throw a little wink to your honeybear, because you Friend, just stepped up your game. Why stop there? Call your Boss, put on your fresh-pressed 3-piece suit and flash your most charming Don Draper smile over a 3-hour martini lunch complete with a medium-well Pork Porterhouse Chop (previous name: Loin Chop), followed closely by… a nap. Or bust out your best Bobby Flay, step right up to your local meat counter and confidently order the New York Pork Chop (previous name: Top Loin Chop) simply because you deserve it.

You’re probably thinking: Pork, you fancy, huh? And maybe that’s true. But here's the not-so-secret secret: It's the very same tasty cut of pork you've enjoyed for your entire life! Which is why we need your help, to make this one of those successful “Cher(ilynn Sarkissian)” name changes instead of one of those “artist formerly known as Prince” name changes.

And it's happening just in time for you to fire up your grill and send out the Evite’s for your friendly cul-de-sac BBQ. Because this summer, Players and Player-haters alike, you can Grill Pork Chops Like a Steak! You’re welcome, America ;)

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create a fun and shareable 30-60 second video that will generate awareness about the new names for Pork Chop Cuts and get people excited to “Grill Pork Chops Like a Steak” this summer!

Creative is wide open to your interpretation. Want to do for Pork what Grey Poupon did for mustard? Get Gaga to trade in that meat dress for a Pork Frock? Or uncover a menu from a restaurant in some magnificent pig-worshipping alternate universe? Go for it, take it to Pork Town! In the words of the National Pork Board… Pork. Be Inspired.

--Key Marketing Message:

1. There are new names for Pork Chops: http://bit.ly/12J6sPQ

2. You can now “Grill Pork Chops Like a Steak”

3. Additionally, your video should articulate that Pork Chops can now be cooked like your favorite steak – to an internal temperature between 145 degrees (medium rare) and 160 degrees (medium) for a juicy, flavorful meal.

--Target Audience: We’d like to reach those who enjoy pork but aren’t familiar with the different cuts of pork chops or how to prepare them. Let’s rally pork enthusiasts all across the nation!

--Tone: The video should be youthful, fun, energetic, educational, helpful and edgy.

--Executional Mandatories:

 • Do not show raw cuts of meat (use cooked versions or illustrations instead).

 • Do not use imagery of live pigs or cartoon pigs.

 • Do not insult competitive proteins (beef and chicken), although it’s OK to call out pork’s value in comparison.

--Exposure: Intended use across digital social channels ranging from Facebook to YouTube to educate consumers on grilling pork like a steak this season.

Details

This project will be worth a total of $25,000 and consist of three phases, an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a “Grill Pork Chops Like a Steak” Video in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. TWO (2) winning Idea creators will each receive $250 and a 5% one-time residual payment for every winning Video their Idea is used to generate. (That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $625, the 2nd place Video $300, the 3rd place Video $150) – see Video Phase Payout details below.

PHASE 2: PITCH – Using text (500 characters or less), images (storyboards), video, and external links (to other supporting assets, i.e., your reel, etc.), give us your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) for how YOU would go about producing a 30 – 60 second video based on one of the winning Ideas. The TWO (2) most compelling Pitches will be selected and will receive $1,500 to help create their Video.  Those winners (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you submit a video during the Video Phase, you will win an additional $3,000, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $12,500 first place Video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment).  Remember your Pitch can include any, and all, of the assets mentioned above and you MUST include a link to some of your previous video work on Tongal or elsewhere to be considered for this phase. Remember your Pitch can include any, and all, of the assets mentioned above and you MUST include a link to some of your previous video work on Tongal or elsewhere to be considered for this phase. For an example of an effective pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning "3 Artists & 5,000 LEGO's" Pitch. All Pitches will remain private until after the winners of the Video Phase are announced and the Project is complete. Keep in mind, if you don’t win the Pitch Phase or choose not to create a Pitch, you will still have the opportunity to create and submit a “Wild Card” Video.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The TWO (2) winners from the Pitch Phase will create a 30 – 60 second video based upon their winning Pitches, and all other creators are invited to enter a “Wild Card” (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that is not based on any winning material from the previous phases.  The Judges will score all Wild Card Videos and the highest scoring Wild Card Video and the TWO (2) winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the TWO Pitch winners, along with ONE non-Pitch Video creator, will receive prizes.

--Video Winner Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $12,500, 2nd place $6,000, 3rd place $3,000 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to Idea winners, as applicable).

--Music: Tongal has partnered with Audiosocket, a boutique music licensing and technology company representing more than 2,400 emerging bands, composers and record labels. This is not "stock" music. It is an inventory of more than 40,000 original, culturally relevant songs and music that have been compiled into a premium roster.  Audiosocket's music will be available to Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Tongal members' submissions to this Project.  Tongal members are encouraged to browse the Audiosocket roster, available by clicking on the "Audiosocket" button on the right hand side of this page. If you are interested in using a track from the Audiosocket roster, as described above, just add the track(s) you want to use to your cart using the "+cart" button, then click the "checkout" button.  Enter the Tongal project name and click the "purchase and download" button to acquire the track for free ($0.00). Lastly, click the "download track" button, which will initiate the music file download. You may only use THREE Audiosocket tracks maximum as part of your video submission.
