Background

It’s ok to freak out, guys. We all do it. As long as you give the impression that you can handle it on the outside. And that’s where Speed Stick® Power™ comes in. Its all-day protection gives you the confidence that you’ll stay dry on the outside, even if you’re stressing on the inside. So no matter what, you can step up and handle the situation.

From April 23 through May 14 anyone can Tweet their HANDLE IT moments to @SpeedStick by using hash tag #HANDLEIT for a chance to have their moment made into a Tongal video starring Danny Pudi as the voice over talent.

To submit as part of the HANDLE IT™ Twitter contest, you can click the “Tweet” button on this page. Also be sure to check out www.Twitter.com/SpeedStick for more information and visit www.YouTube/SpeedStick to view some great HANDLE IT™ moments.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create a fresh, funny 20-second video based on Speed Stick’s favorite #HANDLEIT tweet.

It’s your job to create a story around the tweet using a fairly simple structure, featuring a 20-something guy as the hero. There are three main elements you must use in your storytelling:

1)     The Tension Moment: show a simple story of a sweat inducing moment (it’s more of an emotional, “freak-out” type sweat, but it could also be an active type of sweat). Then use the hero’s inner monologue to make it clear what he’s thinking, but on the outside, he looks calm and cool.

2)     The Win: as a resolution, show how our hero guy can “handle it” in that situation and succeeds in the context of the situation.

3)     Inner Monologue/Voice Over: The video must feature a humorous “inner monologue” by your hero.   If your video concept is selected by Speed Stick, you’ll be working with Speed Stick on a final video featuring a voiceover by Danny Pudi.

In addition, Danny Pudi will also be involved as follows:

1)     One sixty (60) consecutive minute content collaboration (with 1st prize winner) session via telephone.

2)     Creative input on final script/content.

--Tone and Attitude: These are real guys you can relate to in realistic but slightly exaggerated situations. Funny with an edge. This should be a look at real-life jams guys in their early 20s might find themselves in.

 - He’s confident, but not cocky.

 - He’s real, not a caricature.

 - He’s not the ultra smooth Old Spice guy.

 - He’s not the player of an Axe guy.

Think of a cool friend telling his funniest story about how he had to step-up and own a tough situation.

--Key Elements:

 - Two part structure: The Tension Moment and The Win.

 - A sweat-inducing situation that’s relevant to our target.

 - Humorous inner monologue.

 - Messaging that is similar to produced videos.

 - An obvious connection to under arm sweat: needs to feel like a guy may sweat in this situation.

 - A clear victory. An indication that he has come out on top in the eyes of a girl, a boss, a rival, his peers.

- It’s not about smell, it’s about not sweating

- Tight, short, understandable stories.

Videos should NOT include any product shots or mentions of “Speed Stick”. They should be under 20 seconds total. Product introductions and announcer VO’s will be added in after videos are submitted.

Details

This project is worth a total of $17,000 and will consist of two phases.

PHASE 1: PITCH – Using text (500 characters or less), images (storyboards), video, and external links (to other supporting assets, i.e., your reel, etc.), give us your Pitch for how YOU would go about producing a Video based on the winning tweet from the HANDLE IT™ Twitter Contest. To ensure that Pitches conform to a consistent format, the pitch submission form for this project will also feature two distinct sections: The Tension Moment (set-up), showing the sweat inducing or freak out moment, and then The Win (pay-off) to show how our guy succeeds. The THREE most compelling Pitches will be selected and will receive a $500 production budget to help create their Video. Those winners (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED to place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected, you will earn a minimum of $1,500 with a 1-in-4 shot at the $10,000 first place video prize. Remember your Pitch can include any, and all, of the assets mentioned above, but you MUST include a link to some of your previous video work on Tongal or elsewhere to be considered for this phase.  For an example of an effective pitch, check out Sean Clark’s winning Benjamin Moore “Find Your Perfect Color” Pitch. To avoid information cascades, all Pitches will remain private until after the video winners of the subsequent phase are announced. Alternatively, even if you don’t win the Pitch Phase or choose not to create a pitch, you will still have the opportunity to create a “Wild Card” Video completely of your own creative devices in the subsequent Phase.

PHASE 2: VIDEO – Winning Pitch creators from the previous phase will utilize their $500 advance to create a 20-second video based upon their winning materials and all other creators are invited to enter a “Wild Card” submission that’s not based on any winning material from the previous phases. Please remember that, Wild Card or not, all videos should abide by the two-part structure of The Tension Moment and The Win. Remember, the THREE Pitch winners are GUARANTEED prizes, as is ONE of the non-pitch video creators.
