Background

Closeups aren’t just for celebrities anymore. With the abundance of camera-phones, your every little detail is on display, all the time. And your social media post-happy friend just will not quit with the selfies—on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine. It wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t in the photos, or if the camera was a little farther away to hide every detail of your face, or better yet, you hadn’t broken out in blemishes that morning. But there you are, troubled T-zone bared for the world to see. She could have at least added a flattering filter. It’s a paradox—you want to be seen, yet are afraid to be judged.

There may not be a way to stop your photographer friend, but there is a way to deal with the breakout issue. It’s time to stop hiding behind the lens and get that confidence back. Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 is the #1 acne treatment sold in the US* (*Source: IRi Unit Sales 52 weeks ending 6/30/13 Food, Drug, Mass). It is the same formula prescribed by doctors, but it’s available over the counter without a prescription.

Objectives

Create a video that tells a story to which teenage girls (ages 13-17) can relate. Sponsor is not seeking a set formula of problem + Clean & Clear = confidence, but if your story lends itself to an acne-related issue, feel free to present. The goal here is to create appealing lifestyle and emotional content where confidence is a key player in the narrative. Videos should run 60 to 120 seconds (with a :30 second cutdown). Use of historic tagline “Clean & Clear and under control” is optional.

NOTE: The Sponsor would like your Video to feature Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10. Product Samples are available upon request.

Key Marketing Message-- Girls experience so much change during their teenage years both physically, socially, and emotionally. Clean & Clear is their ally to ensure that their skin is the least of these worries, so they always look beautiful and feel confident.

Target Audience-- Teen girls, ages 12-17 who are navigating life and figuring out who they are. Content should feature talent over the age of 15.

Tone-- Candid, real, reassuring, enlightening (there is a product that helps during this stage!)

Executional Mandatories-- You must show the Persa-10 Gel product in your video (Available upon request.)

Exposure-- Johnson & Johnson digital sites, internet pre-roll, potential for broadcast.

Details

This project will be worth a total of $45,000 and consists of three phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a Clean & Clear video. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. Three (3) winning Idea creators will each receive $500 and a 5% one-time residual payment for every winning Video their Idea is used to generate. (That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $800, the 2nd place Video $500, the 3rd place Video $300, and 4th place Video $200) – see Video Phase Payout details below.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the sponsor why you should be selected to execute a video based on one of the winning Ideas using:

 • Text (REQUIRED): 500 characters or less summarizing how you plan to approach and execute this video.

 • Links (REQUIRED): To your previous video work, showreel, etc.

 • Images (Optional): Additional concept art, storyboards, scripts, casting notes, anything that helps get your point across.

 • Video (Optional): This is your opportunity to show us what you're capable of. Test video, animatics, etc. are welcome.

The most compelling Pitch will be selected and will receive $2,500 to help create the Video. The winner (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you complete the video required, you will win an additional $4,000 (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment). For an example of an effective pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The THREE (3) winners from the Pitch Phase will create a 60-120 second video (and 30 second cutdown) based upon their winning Pitch and all other creators are invited to enter a “Wild Card” (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that is not based on any winning material from the previous phases.  The Judges will score all Wild Card submissions and the ONE (1) highest scoring Wild Card video and the THREE (3) winning videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the THREE (3) Pitch winners, along with ONE (1) non-Pitch Video creator, will receive prizes.

-- Video Phase Payout: Winner of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $16,000, 2nd place $10,000, 3rd place $6,000, 4th place $4,000. (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winner, as applicable).

--Music: Killer Tracks is a leading provider of production music for use in film, television, advertising and interactive media. Killer Tracks’ music will be available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into official Submissions to this Project. No other use is permitted. You may only use up to THREE Killer Tracks maximum as part of your video Submission.

Click login. We encourage you to use the “Themed Playlist” tab for exploring the catalog as it provides pre-curated song choices based on several popular themes. Alternately, use the "Search" tab to enter your own criteria. To watch a quick tutorial video on how to use the website, click HERE.

Once you’ve identified the song(s) you want to use, click the down arrow under the Actions column to the right of the song title/description. This will open a Download Manager window, allowing you to save the file to the location of your choice. Keep track of the CD#, Track #, Track Title and Composer(s) of the songs you end up using in the video, as you will need to provide that info once you turn in the final edit. Getting the right track can really help sell your video, so make it killer!
