Background

ATTENTION Wix.com Pitch Phase participants: please reference the exisiting Wix.com radio spots HERE to understand what the brand is not trying to achieve.

Broadcasting live, from KTNG in Santa Monica, California, this is Tongal’s first ever RADIO project brought to you by Wix!

Wix is a free, easy-to-use platform that allows you to create, design, and host beautiful websites. It’s especially suited for small business owners and creatives, who often don’t have resources to build and host their own sites, and want their website to express who they are and what their business is all about - that’s exactly who they’re targeting with this campaign. Whether your business is worth $300 or $300,000, and employs 1 or 1,000, Wix understands the importance of a clear and engaging online presence.

Wix is free from the moment you sign up, and stays that way. Go ahead, build a page. It only takes moments and you will experience how easy it is to design a beautiful site with the drag and drop tool. If anything is unclear, call the support center or watch one of the many tutorial videos that will walk you step by easy step through the process. Wix can also host all other media platforms, consolidating your Facebook page, YouTube channel, or other apps all in a single destination.

Objectives

Create a :60 radio spot and a shorter :30 version that showcases the ease, beauty, and necessity of having a Wix website. The spot must appeal to the small business demographic, and communicate that Wix is the premier place to build and host an effective, stunning site for their business. The spot must drive people to visit Wix.com and create their own sites.

Key Marketing Message-- Anyone can create a beautiful, free website to establish and build an online presence for their small business.

Target Audience-- Small business owners and self-employed individuals.

Tone-- Informative, direct, engaging.

Executional Mandatories--

•Call out Wix.com four or more times in the spot.

•Spell it out at least once (example: “That’s W-I-X.com”)

Exposure-- National radio stations.

Details

This project will be worth a total of $7,500 and consists of three phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Radio Spot Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a Wix radio ad. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Radio Spot. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. Three winning Idea creators will each receive $250 and a 5% one-time residual payment for every winning Radio Spot their Idea is used to generate.

PHASE 2: PITCH – Create a pitch for how YOU would go about producing a 60 second radio spot based on one of the winning Ideas. Your pitch must include the following –

 • TEXT: 500 characters (or less) of text summarizing your intended approach to this execution

 • SCRIPT: You must upload a script for the :60 Radio Spot

 • VOICE TALENT: you must upload a clip of the voice actor(s) you intend to cast in the spot.

 • LINKS: To you previous work.

The most compelling Pitch will be selected and will receive $1000 to help create their spot.  The winner (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Radio Spot phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected, you will win an additional $1,750 (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment).  All Pitches will remain private until after the winners of the Radio Spot Phase are announced and the Project is complete. Keep in mind, if you don’t win the Pitch Phase or choose not to create a Pitch, you will still have the opportunity to create and submit a “Wild Card” Radio Spot.

PHASE 3: RADIO SPOT – The one (1) winner from the Pitch Phase will create a :60 second radio spot with a :30 cut-down based upon their winning Pitch and all other creators are invited to enter a “Wild Card” (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that is not based on any winning material from the previous phases.  The Judges will score all Wild Card submissions and the highest scoring Wild Card radio spot and the one (1) winning Radio Spot submitted by Pitch winner will be scored to determine the standings for the Radio Spot Phase.  Remember, the One (1) Pitch winner, along with ONE (1) non-Pitch Video creator, will receive prizes.

-- Radio Phase Payout: Winner of the Radio Spot Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $4,000, 2nd place, $1,750 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winner, as applicable).

-- Music: Killer Tracks is a leading provider of production music for use in film, television, advertising and interactive media. Killer Tracks’ music will be available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into official Submissions to this Project. No other use is permitted. You may only use up to THREE Killer Tracks maximum as part of your video Submission.

To use the Killer Tracks site, click the  "Killer Tracks" button on the right hand side of this page.  On their homepage, click the red login tab in the upper right-hand corner and enter the following credentials:

Click login. We encourage you to use the “Themed Playlist” tab for exploring the catalog as it provides pre-curated song choices based on several popular themes. Alternately, use the “Search” tab to enter your own criteria. To watch a quick tutorial video on how to use the website, click here.

Once you’ve identified the song(s) you want to use, click the down arrow under the Actions column to the right of the song title/description. This will open a Download Manager window, allowing you to save the file to the location of your choice. Keep track of the CD#, Track #, Track Title and Composer(s) of the songs you end up using in the video, as you will need to provide that info once you turn in the final edit. Getting the right track can really help sell your video, so make it killer!
