Background

Wallapop is coming to New York City!

If you’re wondering “what’s ‘Wallapop?’” That’s totally understandable - we’ll explain. However, if you’re wondering, “what’s ‘New York City?’” then this probably isn’t the project for you.

Wallapop is an app for iOS and Android that shows you what people around you want to sell: bikes, sofas, iPads, etc. – Wallapop also lets you sell whatever you want to your neighbors. Think of it as a mobile, local fleamarket.

Although you may never have heard of Wallapop until just now, millions of people in Europe use the app everyday to buy and sell stuff. It’s like a geo-specific, less creepy version of Craigslist or Ebay.

Now, Wallapop is ready to launch in America and NYC is their first destination. Wallapop really wants to blow the doors off their launch and they want YOU to help them come up with creative, non-traditional ways to make their mark in the Big Apple.  By non-traditional, we mean: don’t think of ads for TV, Billboards, Radio, etc. – think of something unique and creative that will get people’s attention in NYC!

Objectives

The goal of this project is to come up with creative, nontraditional Big Ideas (in 500 characters or less) for how Wallapop can announce its launch in NYC, raise awareness of its service, and drive people to check out its mobile app on android or iOS.

Wallapop is looking for Big Ideas that could make a great impact and reach at least 5,000 people.

--Key Marketing Messages:

·       Make money from your old stuff!

·       Buy great new things!

·       You’ll find everything you’re looking for!

·       When neighbors trade with neighbors, everyone benefits.

--Target Audience: Men and Women 16-40 in urban, densely populated areas.

--Executional Mandatories:

·       Your Big Idea must be specifically about how to raise awareness about Wallapop’s Launch in NYC.

·       Your Big Idea must not be about forms of traditional advertising like TV, Billboards, Radio, etc.

Wallapop wants to see nontraditional submissions like live activations, events, and whatever else you can come up with.

--Tone: Off the beaten path, unique, creative, attention-grabbing.
