Background

For Foot’s Sake - When did it become normal to have shoe-shaped feet and why is it so unfashionable to have foot-shaped feet?  If this doesn’t mean anything to you, then you’re probably not the person this sponsor is looking for. If it does – then read on!

Vivobarefoot is looking to make a film that exposes the ugly truth that the shoe industry is selling us all a lie and helps reset the shoe conversation to be about health and wellness - launching ‘the decade of the foot’.

Vivobarefoot knows strong, healthy feet are the foundation of natural movement. And regular, natural movement is the best anti-aging program known to man. However, the Western world’s shoe industry has been cramming our feet into non-foot shaped shoes for decades (and since our youth), resulting in weak and deformed feet.

‘Running’ has become a leading source of injury and by the time people turn 50, the majority are in some sort of chronic pain. And how do humans respond to pain? We stop moving. And then we hurt more. But does it really have to be this way? With gravity and space to move, feet can regain their natural strength and shape remarkably quickly – Vivobarefoot likes to inspire a generation to rehab their feet and make it normal to preserve the natural shape of children’s feet into adult life – move more and enjoy natural healthy movement.

Vivobarefoot wants a film that is hard hitting, inspiring and amusing… about, you guessed it, feet! They’re looking for pitches, so bring your curiosity, passion for truth, storytelling and filmmaking talent to the forefront and show how you would bring this story to life. To help, Vivobarefoot can introduce you to the leading protagonists (and opponents) of the barefoot revolution including scientists and medics from Harvard to Harley Street.

The goal is to create a 10-minute documentary showcasing the state of the current shoe industry and how large shoe manufacturers are neglecting people’s health and feet with current shoe design.

In Vivo’s own words: This isn’t about us, it’s about time. Time the world lets their feet do their natural thing. We want to discover the filmmaker that might just prove that we’ve been standing on the truth all along. Your feet!

PLEASE NOTE: If the Sponsor selects a filmmaker, all payments, pre-production preparation, production, post production, final asset delivery, and any release forms will be handled directly between the Sponsor and winning filmmaker, not via the Tongal platform. Finally, should any type of disputes arise Tongal is under no obligation to mediate a resolution between both parties.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create a 10-minute documentary film that captures the curiosity, passion for truth on the barefoot revolution including scientists and medics from Harvard to Harley Street that is concurrently hard-hitting, inspiring and amusing… about feet.

NOTE TO SUBMITTERS: Vivobarefoot is interested in who you are. It is not required but is highly recommended that you share a Pitch video, detailing who you are, your skills and why you are the one to bring this story to life. Please add into your treatment a personal statement of no more than 1 page as to why you are the right person to make this film and a rough budget outline of how you would allocate the $40,000 maximum budget for this film.

IT STARTS WITH YOUR FEET. Consider your journey on planet Earth from your feet’s perspective. It’s an immense journey over astonishingly diverse terrain: pulsing, neon-drenched city streets, volcanic black sand beaches, pristine Alpine switchbacks, sun-bleached desert trails, tropical swamps chock full of snakes and gators... And the most important treks of all—the journeys you make every day going about your daily life.

The human foot is a biomechanical masterpiece that can cope with everything from walking and running to jumping and dancing when left to its own devices.? But by cramming it into a modern shoe, you negate its natural function. Your feet have over 200,000 nerve endings. The same amount as your hands. ?To allow you to feel. Because, if you can’t feel what you’re doing you’re in big trouble. Whether you’re attempting to cross Niagara Falls on a tightrope, perform an Olympic gymnastics routine or defeat Bruce Lee: wearing padded shoes isn’t a great idea. And this is the reason why Vivos have the thinnest sole possible. Designed to give you maximum sensory feedback. And they’re foot shaped so your feet can move as nature intended. Whether you’re performing a pirouette or popping down the shops.

Your feature documentary is destined to be seen by many – which means it must be filmed on a 4K master and will need to conform to very specific specs. There are a lot of moving parts to this project and it’s going to go fast so please pay special attention to the information outlined in this section and the Details section.
