PREVIOUS T-MOBILE GIFS: These are just a few of the recent GIFs created on Tongal, and they're a good example of how much stylistic diversity and freedom you have in approaching this project.

Objectives

Social media's got plenty of talk, but we all know it's visuals that excite people, so - animators, illustrators, and all you other wizards of design - this is another T-Mobile GIF project for you to run with. In this project, T-Mobile wants us to create a mix of GIFs and static images that their employees can use to showcase some of the "evergreen" offerings that T-Mobile has for customers - everything from their typical cell phone plans to their ScamShield robocall blocker and their T-Mobile MONEY online banking options. Now, you may have seen a project just like this recently, but the difference here is that we specifically want unexpected visuals, and we'll elaborate on what that means further below.

The goal here is for you to create a total of 2 GIF and 2 static images that communicate something about the different benefits, perks, and features that make these offerings stand out. We've split the offerings into 2 different batches, and you'll can select one batch OR the other, depending on what you find more interesting.

Batch A

  1. T-Mobile for Business
  2. T-Mobile MONEY

Batch B

  1. Cell Phone Plans
  2. T-Mobile Tuesdays

What do we mean by unexpected? We've seen a bunch of GIFs that simply take stock photos of smiling actors and throw them on a magenta background with some plain text - that's not really exciting. We've also seen a lot of motion graphic text with crazy abstract shapes and lines - that's cool, but we've all seen that before, for T-Mobile, and a bunch of other brands. 8-bit video-game style ideas are more common than you'd think, and while that's a cool style, the visuals themselves aren't surprising. Here's a recent T-Mobile Tuesdays GIF that works because it depicts days of the week as boring office chairs, except for Tuesday, which is a throne upon which we find different T-Mobile Tuesday offers. The GIF is functional, but the visual is elevated and doesn't take an obvious approach. We'll touch on more in the Background.

There are many ways for you to approach the tone and style and T-Mobile doesn't want to box you in. T-Mobile has a unique voice that is vivacious and lighthearted, self-aware and self-assured, yet nevertheless professional. They're the Un-carrier - cool, clever, even a little quirky. They're also not "ads," as these should feel more casual than that.

In terms of the differences between GIFs and static images, there isn't one stylistically - T-Mobile's looking for a lot of bite-sized content and that means some of the simpler messaging will just be presented with a static image instead of a GIF. Those static images are unique assets though, and they should be just as interesting and playful as the GIFs.

For your pitch, we highly recommend submitting a proof of concept GIF or static image in your Treatment or Pitch Video. Start with T-Mobile for Business or T-Mobile Money, as they'll be part of Batch 1 for delivery. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.
