If you’ve ever played Uno, you know that there is a precise, visceral moment of victorious glee. The moment in the game when you’ve got it, you know it, and it’s time to lay the hammer down. The sheer joy of victory washes over you as you yell “UNO!!” and your opponent comes to grips with their eminent defeat.
That’s the UNO MOMENT.
What we’ve realized is that Uno moments, are much more than you screaming “UNO” at the top of your lungs, slapping down the final card on the kitchen table and making your 6 year old cousin cry. Uno moments transcend the game and happen in real life. Moments of pure joy when you’ve got someone or something in check. Moments, that, until now, when you may have been compelled to shout out “UNO” but never did.
Well friends, we’re signing your permission slips.
The goal of this project is to create a really funny :13 second video about a glorious “UNO moment” happening in real life, outside of the game. Remember, UNO is inherently a social game, so when you’re translating your “UNO! moments” to real life, make sure they occur in (possibly unexpected) social situations.
We want you to push the envelope, have a laugh, and make everyone from your 70 year-old grandmother to your too-cool-for-school teen think back on their very first UNO moment.
NOTE: Your video should focus on the emotional benefit associated with triumph. As the “UNO moment” is one of surprise, achievement, and laughter, we are looking for you to bring to life the fun moments that convey these emotions. Think of the “Uno!” shout out as the next iteration of “Ohhh snap!” or “Yeahhh Boyee!”
--Target Audience: Adults 18-49.
--Key Communication Message: UNO is Fast, Fun, For Everyone.
--Tone: Fun, modern, genuine, cool, with a bit of an edge.
--Executional Mandatories: Shouting “Uno!” is crucial to the content. However, please try NOT to incorporate the UNO product into your video. People are already familiar with playing the card game, we want them to see UNO moments outside of the game.
--Exposure: YouTube, Facebook, blogs, retailer websites.
This project will be worth a total of $20,000 and consist of two phases, an Idea Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a :13 second video for an UNO moment in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea is not a detailed script; it is a tweet-sized spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. Winning Ideas creators will each receive $200 and a 5% residual payment for every winning video their Idea is used to generate.
PHASE 2: VIDEO – Select one of the five winning Ideas and create a :13 second video based on it. Try not to think of the Idea you are working off of as a script, but rather, a central thesis that you should build your work around. Alternatively, you may choose to enter a “Wild Card” submission not based on any winning Ideas from the previous phase.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with Audiosocket, a boutique music licensing and technology company representing more than 2,400 emerging bands, composers and record labels. This is not "stock" music. It is an inventory of more than 40,000 original, culturally relevant songs and music that have been compiled into a premium roster. Audiosocket's music will be available to Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Tongal members' submissions to the UNO Project. Tongal members are encouraged to browse the Audiosocket roster, available by clicking on the "Audiosocket" button on the right hand side of this page. If you are interested in using a track from the Audiosocket roster, as described above, just add the track(s) you want to use to your cart using the "+cart" button, then click the "checkout" button. Enter the Tongal project name and click the "purchase and download" button to acquire the track for free ($0.00). Lastly, click the "download track" button, which will initiate the music file download. You may only use THREE Audiosocket tracks maximum as part of your video submission.
