Background

Welcome to Tongal’s first ever Voice Over competition for, well, Tongal!

We’re reaching out to the Voice Over talent in our community to help us record narration to accompany a new introductory animation (created by none other than Top Tongaler, Mean Low, full script will be provided), that will help welcome new Tongal creatives and get them acquainted with our world and our process.

Because this animation will basically be the new entry path for creative people coming to learn about and join Tongal, we not only want it to be the very best it can be – we also want it to reflect the voice of our community in every way possible.

That’s why we’re asking those of you with GOLDEN PIPES to help make this animation sound candid, friendly, straightforward, and upbeat.  (Not pushy, proud or pedantic.)  Our community has lots of men and women so we are open to both female and male voices.  We want a young sound, reflecting the broad demographic of our community -- but our emphasis on youth is more about state of mind than the digits on your Driver’s License.   In voice-over land, you’re as young as you sound.

More than anything else, we want it to sound just like YOU…but…y’know….perfect!

Objectives

The goal of this project is to identify two VO actors capable of delivering a perfect read of the Tongal animation script. With your voice-over, the finished animation will give new-to-Tongal community members a concise, entertaining guide for how they can get started and participate with Tongal – whether they’re someone who simply wants to share ideas, or a filmmaker ready to dive in, do pitches, and make the magic happen.

The first two slides furnishing artwork for this animation are available here: Voiceover PowerPoint file.  Go ahead and lick the link now to tale a look.

The script you’ll use is in the NOTES VIEW for that Powerpoint.

Please give us your read of the script for those first two slides.  Follow the script exactly -- deviations, even if you think they’re better, are strictly prohibited.

Please also give us just one version.  We know that many of you can do MANY voices.  What we want to hear here is the one you feel is right for this material.

And please be natural…no Daffy Duck or Napoleon Dynamite versions need apply.

Finally, have fun with it!

We hope your voice will soon become part of the Tongal Story!

This project will be worth a total of $1,000 and consists of two phases: a Pitch Phase and a Voice Over Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 2: READ – Record and upload a short read of the script available for download as a PPTX, here.  Follow the script exactly -- deviations, even if you think they’re better, are strictly prohibited. The two most compelling Reads will be selected and will receive a $250 advance against their full VO read in the subsequent round.  The winners (upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit and IP Assignment) will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Voice Over phase.  So, if your Read is selected, you will win an additional $250 for a total of $500.

PHASE 3: VOICE OVER – The two (2) winners from the Read Phase will record and submit a complete, studio quality version of the Tongal & U Animation script (to be provided). Tongal will be entitled to revisions on the VO without providing additional compensation.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the top two winning Voice Over creators using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality (found in the lefthand column of your My Tongal page) will receive a 5% referral fee. That’s a potential $100 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this project!
