Last year, we ran this awesome project where we gave you some cash to tell your own personal Tongal success story.
Since then, we’ve grown a lot, adding talented community members and awesome projects like it’s our job (it is, in fact, precisely our job to do this).
You don’t have to be one of the top Ideators or Filmmakers on the site to participate – maybe you just dig submitting that perfect 140-character Idea in your pajamas, or maybe you’ve been leveling up your filmmaking skills. We’re looking for a broad range of stories and experiences.
Tell us your Tongal Success Story!
The goal of this project is to create a 60-120-second video about your Tongal success story. You may also be asked to deliver a 30-second cutdown of your Success Story as well.
Please take the following into consideration before submitting to this project:
• WHO ARE YOU? We need you to tell us who you are. And “you” can be yourself or your production company. Don’t be afraid to get personal.
• WHAT YOU DO: Are you a filmmaker? An idea person? A camera person? A make-up person? If you’ve played lots of roles, that’s great, let us know, but also let us know which role you play primarily.
• WHAT HAS TONGAL MEANT TO YOU? This is key: we want to get at the core of it, and we’re looking for substance and variety and good juicy stuff here. Be specific, but also feel free to philosophize and enlarge a little on this topic. (And don’t be afraid to make viewers laugh or cry!)
•WHAT HAS YOUR TONGAL JOURNEY BEEN? How did you start? What have been your personal highlights (or stumbling points)? What have you learned? What are you doing today that you didn’t do before? This doesn’t need to be a whole separate soliloquy – it’s okay if it’s woven into the rest of the story you tell – but we do want some sense of your path…of growth, enlightenment, and all that good stuff.
• GOT ANY ADVICE? You’ve been a success with Tongal. Have you any words of advice for the young ballplayers watching at home? Let’s hear it!
This project will consist of two phases and be worth a total of $9,500.
PHASE 1: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing us why you should be selected to make a Video about your Success Story.
The 3 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $500 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $2,000. For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 2: VIDEO - The 5 Pitch winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 60—120-second Video based upon their winning Pitch.
All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission. The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the ONE highest scoring Wildcard Video along with the 3 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the 3 Pitch winners, along with ONE Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place – 4th place: $2,000.
--Previous Tongal Video Work: Non-winning Tongal video content and video content that is not currently publicly viewable on Tongal may not be used as part of your final video. You may, however, use any publicly viewable winning content that was submitted to a Tongal competition. If you have submitted an Idea that led to a winning video you did not create, you can use that video as part of your submission. Simply request the video from us by contacting pat@tongal.com.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with four premiere music providers: Audiosocket, Killer Tracks, Epidemic Sound and Music Dealers. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the four providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.
If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.
