ABOUT E! ENTERTANMENT NETWORK:
E! is the only global, multi-platform brand for all things entertainment, pop culture, and lifestyle. They eat, sleep and breathe pop culture, delivering exclusive breaking news and in-depth celebrity coverage, red carpet livestreams, TV scoops and spoilers, lifestyle trends and tips, and whatever's viral right at this very moment.
They are the pinnacle of entertainment news, particularly when it comes to celebrity life outside of the show and on the red carpet. With that in mind, the bulk of their online content lives within that space: Who's shooting what movie and where? Which glamorous, innovative dress just blessed the red carpet on this celebrity? Here's how this Hollywood couple is adjusting to family life, etc.
This October, The Office will begin airing on E! Entertainment Network, the premier destination for all things pop culture, and no one would be more excited than The Office's own Kelly Kapoor, as famously played by Mindy Kaling. Whether Kelly's encouraging fashion shows at lunch or responding to the question "What's new with you?" by rattling off the latest celebrity gossip, she lives and breathes pop culture and would definitely be an avid E! watcher. Now, let's be real - Kelly's dream job probably isn't working in the Customer Service Department of Dunder Mifflin. If Kelly had her way, we bet she'd be a Live From E! red carpet correspondent, dishing out hot takes on the most outrageous ~fashun~ and the latest celebrity drama. Luckily, with the use of some editing magic, we get to make her dream a reality with a new social series called "KellE! Korner."
E! is looking for a talented editor to create a suite of three short vertical videos that use some of Kelly's best lines from The Office to comment on actual red carpet footage from E!'s vast archives. These three videos will be the first three "episodes" of KellE! Korner, where Kelly gets to grab the mic and live out her red carpet correspondent dreams. For instance, what do you think Kelly Kapoor would have to say about Mindy Kaling's Met Gala looks? How would Kelly react to John Krasinski's transformation into an action movie heartthrob? Does Kelly still get butterflies when she sees B.J. Novak on the red carpet?
You certainly CAN lean into red carpet footage of actors who have previously starred on The Office, but you're not actually limited to those celebrities. We know Kelly had a lot of opinions about Hillary Swank, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Katie Holmes, but this list goes on and on, so you can have a LOT of fun with this and take it in all sorts of directions. We also highly encourage the use of motion graphics in your video, at the very least to create a title card for the KellE! Korner series, but also to help mimic the feel of what you'd see in actual E! programming.
Consider this initial batch of three videos to be a "mini pilot" series that will help to figure out the KellE! Korner format, but once we nail that down, there's the potential that E! might want additional videos down the road, so be bold and fearless (like when Kelly wore white to a colleague's wedding). Make sure to check out E!'s social media channels (linked below under Exposure) to get a sense of the E! brand and their tone of voice on social media.
For your sample video, please edit one roughly :15 video (9x16) using a clip of Kelly Kapoor from The Office to comment on actual red carpet footage from E!. You can source footage from anywhere online for the purposes of the Pitch Phase, and the greenlit editor will be provided with high-res clips from The Office and the red carpet footage that makes it into the final videos. This is your opportunity to show us how you'd approach creating the KellE! Korner series with a short, punchy, and funny social video.
