ABOUT SANTIAGO OF THE SEAS:

Santiago of the Seas is an interactive action-adventure series for preschoolers. It follows Santiago Montes, an 8-year old island-dwelling boy who unearths the mystical compass of fabled pirate Capitán Calavera, the good pirate of the High Seas. With compass in hand and help from his best mates, cousin Tomás and Lorelai the mermaid, along with his pet frog Kiko, Santiago goes on heroic quests and rescues on Calavera’s pirate ship, El Bravo. But it's not all smooth sailing! Santiago and his crew must outsmart and out-pirate nefarious villains in order to protect the treasures of Isla Encanto.

Be sure to check out more information about the show's characters in the Asset section.

EXAMPLES OF SUCCESSFUL NICK JR. SOCIAL CONTENT:

While these examples should give you a good idea of social content that's worked well for Nick Jr. in the past, Nick Jr. is really looking for new and fresh ideas, so make sure to not replicate any of those concepts in your submissions.

Objectives

It can be a hard job sailing the high seas, but not when you live by the good pirate's creed like Santiago and his crew! Santiago of the Seas is an interactive action-adventure series for preschoolers. It follows Santiago Montes, an 8-year old island-dwelling boy who unearths the mystical compass of the fabled pirate Capitán Calavera, the good pirate of the High Seas. Santiago's world is heavily influenced by the rich tapestry that is Latino-Caribbean culture, and all of the characters are fluently bilingual and alternate between English and Spanish smoothly in conversation. You can learn more about the show and its characters in the Background and Assets sections.

As Santiago says, "A good pirate helps friends in need," and your friends at Nick Jr. need your help generating engaging and thumb-stopping social content concepts that will get people excited about the second season of the show. The content itself can be evergreen (i.e. relevant at any time of year), though if you want to pitch concepts that center around specific Latino-Caribbean holidays or traditions, let your ideas sail as freely as El Bravo on the open sea! While separate shows, Santiago of the Seas shares a lot of similar themes as the classic Nick Jr. show Dora the Explorer, so you could also submit ideas that mash up characters from both shows. For example, you could submit a concept where characters from both shows are recreated out of different materials (like clay, shells, or food).

Pretty much everything is in-bounds for your concepts, so long as it feels native to its respective social platform. Nickelodeon has shared examples of content that has worked well for them in the past, but they are not looking to replicate any of the examples you'll find in the Background section. You can think about but are not limited to:
