Are you the king of dad jokes? Does your corny sense of humor make your friends cringe? Do you nonetheless think you're a punderful comic? Then this is the pun-tastic project for you!
Ollie's Bargain Outlet has GOOD. STUFF. CHEAP. And to go with that punchy tagline, they are looking for some knockout concepts for comic strip-style promotions featuring their iconic Ollie character. Check out these examples to get an idea of the type of humor Ollie's is going for. Specifically, take note of the speech balloons and what Ollie is doing.
The goal here is to get a chuckle in a clever Ollie type of way. To that end, your concept should revolve around a play on words that shows how excited Ollie is about savings! Kinda like “dad jokes”... but Ollie jokes.
All concepts should focus on savings, Ollie's great prices, deals, bargains, etc... you get the idea. Ollie's does not sell anything online, so it's all about getting people into their stores. Additionally, they only get a fixed quantity of a certain brand-name product, and once it's sold out, it's sold out! This, along with significantly reduced prices, are Ollie's key messaging pillars.
Here are some broad categories to think about when developing your concepts:
Just about anything's fair game! And most importantly... have some pun with it!
