Background

We've included examples of other brands who have done this well in the Assets tab for inspiration as you think about this content.

Below are some helpful insights on university students & recent graduates in our target demo:

For a sense of youthful & fun content that has been created for the PayPal Mexico team under the Pay Happy banner, please check out the videos below. Please note these should be taken more as tonal comparisons, rather than aesthetic comparisons:

Objectives

PayPal wants people to know that they are the fast and easy way to pay in Mexico, offering the ability to pay online - both locally or globally - with Debit, Credit, or Installments, and in a single click. This ease & convenience is at the core of their "Pay Happy" creative positioning, which is all about celebrating the small moments of happiness that PayPal enables every time you choose them at checkout. Now, PayPal is looking to extend "Pay Happy" to social media, with a focus on Instagram, by creating a diverse suite of social-first content for university students and young adults in Mexico, highlighting moments in their life where PayPal enables happiness. This'll be about what they watch, what they listen to, what they eat, what they wear, what they play, and what they share - and why they should consider PayPal in those use cases.

"Pay Happy" has not yet been used on social, so this project will be helping to establish the look and feel of the Pay Happy aesthetic on Instagram, while also adapting some of its content for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. You can view previous creative from the campaign and the brand color palette in the Assets tab below, but we'll be looking for creators to specifically address how that could translate to an Instagram-first approach. From a format standpoint, PayPal is looking for this suite to be a mix of styles and formats - simple videos, photography, GIFs, or animations. Any content would just need to have a cohesive visual aesthetic - but what that ultimately looks like, and how that changes between In-Feed and Stories assets - is up to you.

It's important for content to tie into the joyfulness and theme of "Pay Happy," because the purpose of this content will be help to establish less of a functional relationship between PayPal and its users, and more of an emotional connection, by illustrating how PayPal can enable happiness in people's everyday lives.

Content will also focus on different key verticals: Fashion, Entertainment, Food Delivery, Streaming, Sports, Gaming, and Retail. With those in mind, think about how "Pay Happy" enables micro moments of joy for people when make purchases in these categories. Your content should be grounded in the verticals, and how "Pay Happy" connects is a thread that will need to come through across the suite. In addition to a mix of this lifestyle & culture content, we'll also need some more brand/campaign-focused content (like Summer Break-themed posts for July), so your approach will still need some flexibility in how it handles messaging, while still maintaining a cohesive tone, look, and feel.

If you are interested in being considered for this project, please be sure to submit to the Pre-Qualification Phase. We're looking for creators with a diverse skillset, who have experience creating social-first content with a fun, bright and colorful aesthetic. Four creators will be selected to receive funding to put together a full pitch and 3 proofs of concepts for their vision. One creator will be selected to move forward into the Video Phase and produce the full suite of content.
