Background

Objectives

Okay, keep this on the hush-hush, but we're teaming up with some of the best people in the animation business, and we're in the process of developing something pretty damn special: an adult animation anthology program, sort of like Adult Swim or MTV's classic Liquid Television, where we'd bring together all the brightest undiscovered animation wizards and create a weekly showcase for original new content.

We're shooting big here - TV and streaming - and we're talking about everything from traditional hand-drawn animation to papercraft stop motion. It will be unorthodox, irreverent, imaginative, and more than a little subversive, with a healthy dose of comedy, no doubt, but all genres will be welcome, because this is about entertainment and the opportunity to incubate incredible new talent. Here's the thing though: we need a title for this.

So what else do you need to know? We imagine each episode as a random mix of different shorts from different animation teams, more like a variety or sketch show, where there isn't an overarching theme or narrative. That's what made Adult Swim and Liquid Television so much fun, and Rick & Morty's Interdimensional Cable was a great example too: you never really knew what shenanigans were up next. We also see this as an incubator of sorts, where fans shape the series and can decide which segments deserve more love -- and maybe even a full pilot treatment (just like The Simpsons started out as a fan-favorite segment on the Tracy Ullman Show). The program's not quite America's Got Talent, but they're related, and if they started dating, it'd be icky.

You've got free reign here with the title, and we want something totally unexpected and out there. Parodies, puns, portmanteaus, and other forms of mischievous wordplay are all worth considering. We figure the title's only 4-5 words at most, and we're NOT tied to anything at all ourselves. Don't fixate on "nonsense," and don't obsess over "showcases" or "incubators" or tell us we should just call it the "Tongal Variety Show." Parodies, puns, The beauty of Adult Swim is that it's evocative and descriptive, but a little random and playful, and it subverts the literal definition of an adult swim. You can do that. Hell, you can probably do better.

So, show us what you've got.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Adult fans of animation, comedy, and genre content. Maybe, you know, a handful of them are stoners, but we're not naming names.
