You’re a busy person. You’re constantly crossing things off your to-do list, picking up to-go orders, and of course, Tongaling.
Verizon gets that. They want to give you the technology to make your life a little easier – that’s why they’ve completely upgraded the design of their My Verizon Mobile App. So, in addition to making all of your favorite features even better, it empowers you to efficiently manage your service on-the-go so you can pay your bill, change your plan, and keep track of your usage even from the bleachers of your daughter’s tee-ball game.
Now Verizon wants your fun, inspiring Ideas and Videos to get the word out about how the new redesign of the My Verizon Mobile app will look sleek and make your life easier, empowering you to do more, live more and enjoy more every day.
Please read the rest of the Project Objectives and Details below to learn more about this opportunity!
The goal of this project is to create a fun, shareable 30-120 second Video that raises awareness and drives engagement with Verizon’s newly redesigned My Verizon Mobile app.
Your Ideas and Videos should encourage Verizon customers to engage with the My Verizon Mobile app and be geared toward one of two audiences:
1) Customers who are currently registered for My Verizon and have used the My Verizon Mobile App OR
2) New Verizon customers who are not registered for My Verizon and have not used the My Verizon Mobile App
**To make it even easier, Android devices already have the app pre-installed!
-- you’ll be able to select either option from the dropdown menu when you submit.
Submissions should focus on the ease of the app, how you can manage your account and service on-the-go, and how you should make My Verizon Mobile app part of your life so it can help save you time, and give you the power to do more.
Here are some TOP features to showcase: (in order of priority, show at least top 3 in every Video):
Note: The App is still in Beta, so you should shoot your actors interacting with a Verizon phone displaying a green screen. If selected as a Pitch winner, the Sponsor can provide temp screenshots for your rough cuts and finished plates for you to composite in during the rounds of revisions.
--Key Marketing Messages:
--Target Audience:
As noted, there are TWO Target Demos on this project. Your Pitch / Video should speak to one of these groups below, as you’ll select in the dropdown menu:
1) Customers who are currently registered for My Verizon and have used the My Verizon Mobile App
2) New Users or Current Verizon Wireless customers who have not yet registered for My Verizon Mobile.
--Executional Mandatories:
--Production Notes:
--Tone: Interesting, engaging, relevant to busy people on-the-go. Emotionally engage people like you who want to manage their Verizon account from their phone and need an app who can help them do just that. Submissions should be in the spirit of Verizon’s brand persona: engaging, confident, and depict the voice of a technology leader. Humor is okay, but it has to be the right kind of humor – not at the expense of the audience or competition and not off color or quirky. It’s more smart-funny.
--Exposure: Intended for digital and social usage on the Verizon Wireless website. Videos may also be shown in MVM in-app landing page.
--Inspiration: Here are a few links to some recent videos that are on-brand, as well as the current MVM video (which will be outdated once the new app launches).

--Brand Persona: Verizon Is Heroically Human. That means Verizon is dedicated to helping people, to empowering them to do more and live more and enjoy more. Verizon is committed to making great experiences possible and making amazing technology a part of their customers’ lives every day.
This Project will be worth a total of $50,000 and consists of 3 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for a fun, engaging My Verizon Mobile Video in 140 characters or less. Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The FOUR winning Idea creators will receive $250. There will be no residuals for this project.
PHASE 2: PITCH –
**Filmmakers, you are required to submit a Script with your Pitch submissions, and there will be a round of Script approval by the Sponsor before you go into production.**
Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:
The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $4,500 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $10,000 at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $20,000 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 3: VIDEO – The 2 winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 30-120 second Video based upon their winning Pitch.
All other creators are invited to enter a Wildcard (What Is a Wildcard?) submission that can be based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase or a totally original concept that is not based on any winning material from the Idea Phase. The Judges will score all Wildcard submissions and the ONE highest scoring Wildcard Video along with the 2 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners will be scored to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the 2 Pitch winners, along with ONE Wildcard creator, will receive prizes.
--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $20,000 and 2nd place $10,000, 3rd place $10,000.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers: Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the two providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.
If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.
--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential $1,500 (up to $500 per place) in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
