Background

Look! On the playground! It’s a bunny! It’s a train! No, it’s Super Max! Able to stop a speeding toy with a single paw, he’s the red-caped alter ego of a little rambunctious little rabbit, Max, the younger half of Max & Ruby, two bunny siblings who’ve delighted young children for over a decade as the stars of their own animated TV adventures. Check out some of their adventures here:

Now, if you’ve seen the recent animated Super Max project, you might already know that Super Max is getting the spotlight with his own digital series. However, like any good super-hare-o, Super Max still needs an awesome logo, and that means he’s looking for a fantastic animator who can help him create something really cool for his series.

So we want you, Tongal, to create a 5-second animated logo that can be used as the intro for the Super Max digital series, and while we hope to capture the charming spirit of the original Max & Ruby, Super Max is special, so you can be a little more creative.

Check out more details below!

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create a 5-second Animated Logo for a short-form animated digital series about Super Max, the alter ego of a rambunctious little bunny from the successful TV series “Max & Ruby.” The Animated Logo should be inspired by the whimsical world of “Max & Ruby,” with a similar look & feel, but since the focus of this new digital series is Super Max, it should still have it’s own unique character and design.

In the Video Phase, you should submit an actual 5-second Animated Logo – a “first cut” of sorts, which can use temporary music and SFX. This should not just be a storyboard or an illustrated still. The FOUR (4) best executed and most creative Animated Logos will be shortlisted, but the Max & Ruby team will select only ONE (1) Animated Logo to move forward, and that animator will do additional work to revise the “first cut” they submitted and prepare it for final delivery of assets.

--Assets: Max and Ruby is an established brand and therefore it will be useful for you to use established assets found HERE. You should build upon the existing assets, and shouldn't stray too far from the existing style, but feel free to create new designs for the purposes of the logo.

--Target Audience: Young families with children aged 3 to 7. Existing fans of the show should be drawn in by the addition of something new to the Max & Ruby story, but this is as much for new and casual viewers.

--Tone: Playful, whimsical, cheeky, humorous, wholesome, endearing, educational, and inspirational.

--Exposure: This will live on the Treehouse Direct YouTube channel, as well as other Max & Ruby owned channels.

PHASE 1: VIDEO PHASE – All Animators are invited to submit an Animated Logo Video that represents the first cut of what you would create. Submissions need only include:

The FOUR (4) best executed Animated Logos will be selected by Nelvana. Only ONE (1) of the Selected Animated Logos will move into the Revisions Phase. The Winning Animator will, upon submitting a final revised Animated Logo Video that satisfies the Sponsor notes, completing the necessary release forms, and providing all assets required by the sponsor, receive an additional payment of $1,500. The other THREE Selected Animated Logos (or "finalists") will be awarded $500 upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment.

All Videos will remain private until after the winners of the Video Phase are announced and the Project is complete.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers: Jingle Punks and Epidemic Sound, either of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from third-party catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with your license purchase receipt when you turn in your Video paperwork.

PHASE 2: REVISIONS – Once the Video Phase has closed, ONE (1) Winning Animated Logo Video submitter will enter the Revisions Phase (What is a Revisions Phase?). During this phase, the animator will perform reasonable edits on the Video they submitted according to the Sponsor’s feedback.

PHASE 3: ASSET DELIVERY - You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec in order to submit final payment. You will be responsible for the costs associated the hard drive (if necessary) and shipping.
