Background

SYFY has found the most successful videos are the ones that cleverly integrate the SYFY logo into the scene. The logo shouldn't feel like an afterthought; instead, it should be revealed or transformed in an unexpected way. Check out some of our favorite SYFY logo videos below for inspiration - including our two favorite live-action examples.

Objectives

SYFY is the Alpha and the Omega of genre. It is what they live and breathe, and if you're a genre fan, they've got everything from cyberpunk sci-fi to futuristic fantasy and the boldest, bloodiest horror film you've ever seen. Superheroes, cyborgs, monsters, mashups, crossovers, comics - hell, you can mash them all together if you want. Raise your freak flag high, SYFY's got you, and then let's talk once again about their long-running logo initiative, where fans who call themselves artists, animators, designers, and directors are given the chance to bring the SYFY logo to life in an artistic and incredibly cool TV spot.

This time around, we're all about Pride Month. SYFY wants to see how characters from across the universe are celebrating LGBTQ Pride. So, what's Proxima Centuri doing for Pride? How do we celebrate Pride in the future? How do superheroes celebrate? Vampires? Wizards? Dragons? Fourteen-legged phlenorians? Pride is about acceptance, equality, and dignity, but it's not limited to one species, one planet, or even one dimension - get creative and celebrate!

Bring the SYFY logo to life in an unexpected way, transforming the SYFY logo, or revealing it, in the process. This is not about a "narrative" so much as it is about creating a fun way to set up and subvert audience expectations. Also, SYFY's open to live action approaches this month. We understand live action is hard given the current circumstances, so it's okay if your video has a DIY / homemade feel.

Our priority is to make sure everyone is safe. Along with that, we’re working really hard to keep people working during this strange time. Our advice here is to submit only if you feel you can do something within the anticipated timeline that ensures everyone's safety given today's reality.
