Hot Wheels is about competition, experimentation, and creativity. It is the original stunting brand, allowing boys to connect with each other through both competition and camaraderie while having loads of supercharged fun.
So are you ready to “Build the Epic Race?” Before you buckle up and start revving up that brain of yours please take a careful look at the project structure and details below.
Please check out the remaining sections of the brief to get all of the important details.

The goal of this project is to create a Hot Wheels “Epic Race” web series. Each episode should be 1-2 minutes long, although if you have something that is totally awesome and engaging you can take it beyond 2 minutes. The videos should communicate the following:
1) Viewers should feel inspired to create their own epic tracks and races.
2) Hot Wheels allows for experimentation and endless ways to play.
3) Hot Wheels is all about competition.
Videos should NOT be confused with overly slick and highly produced commercials. However, they don’t want a completely raw UGC feel either. Videos should be aspirational while feeling attainable to boys 6-12.

This Project will be worth a total of $70,000 and consists of 4 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase, a Pilot Phase, and a Series Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea in 140 characters or less for an Epic Hot Wheels race. Maybe it’s a super cool setting or perhaps you have a certain track set-up in mind. Whatever it is it needs to be engaging, feature outrageous action and feed into the tagline “Build the Epic Race.” Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each.
PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Hot Wheels web series based on one or more of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using the elements. Please be sure to provide your vision for the Pilot AND the 4 additional episodes you plan to produce should you create the winning Pilot.
The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $5,000 to help create their Pilot. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Pilot Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $10,000 at a minimum, and have a chance to be green lit to produce an additional 4 episodes. The winning Pilot producer will be awarded an additional $24,000 to help create their 4 episodes. Following the delivery of their 4 final revised episodes the producer will be paid an additional $24,000.
For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.
PHASE 3: PILOT – The TWO (2) winners from the Pitch Phase will each be awarded $5,000 to help create a 1-2 minute Pilot based upon their winning Pitch.
--Pilot Phase Payout: Winners will each earn an additional $5,000 for turning in their Pilot. The first place winner will move on to the Series Phase. The Judges will score the 2 winning Pilot Videos submitted by the Pitch winners to determine who will be green lit to create their 4 additional episodes.
PHASE 4: SERIES – The winner from the Pilot Phase will create their 4 additional episodes. The winning Pilot producer will be awarded an additional $24,000 to help create their 4 episodes. Following the delivery of their 4 final revised episodes the producer will be paid an additional $24,000.
--Music: Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers: Audioblocks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the three providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form.
