Background

Award shows offer the public an inside look into some of the biggest and most glamorous nights in entertainment. A night that looms with excitement and anticipation as you watch stars strut down the red carpet in beautiful designer couture and silently hope that a winner will have an uncensored moment, to remind us that after all, that they are in fact human.

So... with Awards Season right around the corner, and with the launch of Gushers' new personality and campaign “Er Mah Gush”, it only makes sense to bring these two totally awesome worlds together. Now, Gushers is both a brand that gushes (literally in a burst of liquid) as well as gushes in pop culture on teen relevant moments in an exaggerated burst of enthusiasm – that’s super fun and over-the-top in an entertaining and pretty sarcastic way as only Er Mah Gush will do. Gushers wants to be the sweet, sweet treat that positively and humorously gushers about award shows in a world full of pretty mean candy brands. “Er Mah Gush” gushes on those sometimes-small-yet-oftentimes-awkward teen relevant moments in pop culture, all in an entertaining and enthusiastic way.

With these two new exciting events on the horizon, Gushers is turning to the Tongal community to do what you all do best and produce some truly awesome content that connects Gushers and their new “Er Mah Gush” campaign to music awards shows. The red carpet, a memorable or buzzworthy moment from past award shows, nominees, performers, nominated music videos it’s really up to you just so long as “Er Mah Gush” is integrated in a way that’s relevant. It’s important to note when crafting your Ideas, Pitches, and Videos, that you should NOT directly imitate celebrities and look-alikes are off limits.  Parodies, inspired by and/or riffs off of music celebrities or memorable moments, however, are fair game.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create a fun, entertaining and shareable 30 to 60-second Video (with a 15-second cut-down) that tie together Gusher’s new personality “Er Mah Gush” and music awards shows. It’s key that the content hits on the award show connection, WITHOUT directly imitating or using a celebrity look-alike.

Some key things you should consider:

DELIVERABLES: The two Pitch winners will each be required to create a 30-60 second Video, a 15-second cut-down, and a branded end card for their videos.

NOTE: Before going into production the winning producer must get script and casting approval from the Sponsor.

--Key Marketing Messages:

--Target Audience:

--Executional Mandatories:

--Tone:

--Exposure:

Product: Samples will be made available for the Pitch winners.

End Card: The winning filmmaker will be required to create a branded end tag for their Videos.

Details

This Project will be worth a total of $35,000 and consists of 3 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your Idea for Gushers “Er Mah Gush” VMA Video Project in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging.  The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Videos based on their Idea. That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $750 and the 2nd place Video $462– see Video Phase Payout details for more information.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each $5,000 to help create the Video.  Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $9,250, at a minimum, and have a chance to compete for the $15,000 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The 2 winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 30 to 60-second Video based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The 30 to 60-second Video and 15-second cut-down are all due at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate videos when submitting your Videos.

The Judges will score the 2 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase. Remember, the 2 Pitch winners will receive prizes.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $15,000 and 2nd place $9,250 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable).

--Music:  Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Audioblocks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

That’s a potential $962 in bonus cash (up to $500 per place) just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
