Background

VIDEOS, TOPICS, AND THE COUNTRIES THEY'LL BE NEEDED FOR:

Update 03/06/23: With regards to batches, Batch 1 includes videos #1 and #2, Batch 2 includes videos #3, #4, and #5, and Batch 3 includes Videos #6, #7, and #8. The first Batch is smaller to help ensure we nail down the look and feel, and our workflow, before diving into the rest of the videos.

Objectives

We live in a world driven by video content, and PayPal knows that when it comes to even the most basic questions, like how to set up your PayPal account, it can be easier to point people at a helpful explainer video than to ask them to read a few paragraphs of text. That's what brings us here, as the goal of this project is to help PayPal create a large suite of motion graphics-based explainer for use in various territories around the world, including the UK, Australia, Germany, France, and Mexico.

There will be 8 different master videos, each covering a different topic, and the videos will be based upon an existing format that's already rolled out in the United States, which you can see in this video. Your videos will need to look exactly like that example, and luckily, not only will we have the original project files from the American videos, but the American videos also cover many of the same topics we'll need to cover, so localizing them won't require a lot of original work. Much of the task in front of you is in adapting this format for new topics, and ensuring that every video feels relevant to each respective international market. You may have noticed some live action video and photography in the example video, but know that you can use stock videos and photography for that, and the greenlit creator will have access to the Storyblocks stock library. Read more about that in the Project Requirements section below.

As these videos will live in multiple territories across the globe, we will need to account for localization in both product visuals (there are slight differences in user interface between countries), and in the language of the text on screen. Translations will be provided by a third party agency, so you do not need to be fluent in French, German, or Spanish, but you should have someone on hand to review and QC your work. Note that the translation work will be covered under a separate budget, so you do not need to factor that into your budget for this project, and there's no need for VO, so whatever partner or consultant you bring on for your project just needs to be a native speaker that can help you with the edit, and then QC your deliveries so you aren't making avoidable mistakes.

While the style of the main explainer videos is already established, we do have some creative latitude in establishing a format for the :15 social teasers. We want those to feel like they are still a part of the overall Explainer series, but they should feel more social-first and appropriate for Instagram and Facebook In-Feeds. They should also give a quick introduction to the PayPal product, and encourage viewers to watch the full video. You can get a sense of a social-first example of explainer content from another brand here.

For the purposes of your pitch, we're asking that you put together a single :10-:15 proof of concept video (1x1) with your approach to the social teaser content, focusing on the PayPal checkout functionality. You don't need to worry about the information being perfectly accurate for your proof of concept - we'll be focusing on your overall creative & visual approach. We've put together a folder of some basic brand assets HERE for use in your proof of concept video.

DELIVERABLES: There are 110 videos assets and 32 thumbnails, derived from 8 different master topic videos, which ARE NOT all needed for each territory (i.e. Mexico won't need a P2P video).
