Background

Video games can be an expensive hobby. Keeping up with the plethora of new releases or diving into some of the older titles you missed can seriously stress the old bank account – that is, until GameFly came to the rescue! GameFly allows members to rent one or more video games concurrently, with no due dates, late fees or shipping charges. Users can easily select from over 8,000 console/handheld titles or over 1,500 PC games for immediate download for one low monthly rate. Also, GameFly has a “Keep” feature in case you can’t bear to part with Master Chief or Agent 47.

GameFly has upped its awesome quotient even more by teaming up with NBA superstar and dunking savant Blake Griffin to help spread the word about their game-changing subscription model. Besides his incredible basketball skills, Blake Griffin is a man with some serious comic chops. You may have seen his hilarious Kia commercials or maybe you’re aware of his stint as an Intern at FunnyOrDie.com during the last NBA lockout.

GameFly wants the Tongal Community to conceptualize and write a 60 second radio spot featuring the mayor of Lob City himself, Blake Griffin, so seize this as your opportunity to have a man who could literally dunk your entire body through a basketball hoop be compelled to speak the exact words you wrote.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to write a script for a 60 second GameFly radio advertisement featuring NBA superstar Blake Griffin.  The goal of the ad is to get people excited about GameFly by utilizing NBA superstar Blake Griffin’s voice and persona.

--Key Marketing Messages:

• GameFly is the smartest way to rent and buy videogames

• GameFly – Try Before You Buy

• GameFly – Games Delivered

--Additional Messaging:

• Do you want to play all the latest videogames?  Try GameFly.com the #1 video game rental service

• GameFly has over 8,000 titles including the hottest new releases.

• Select games, keep them as long as you want, send them back when you’re done and GameFly will send the next game(s) on your list

• No late fees, cancel anytime, very easy to sign up!

--Target Audience: Males ages 18-34, gamers

--Tone:  The tone should be clever, funny, friendly, intelligent, and honest.  Blake Griffin’s personality fits our brand character: cool buddy you want to hang out with, witty and smart (and dry) sense of humor, trustworthy friend you can count on.

--Executional Mandatories: Brand name, GameFly.com must be messaged at the end of the spot with the call to action (below). The call to action should ideally be messaged twice in the 60s spot.

The call to action is:

“Go to GameFly dot com now, click the controller in the top right corner, enter “radio” in the box, and get started with your FREE extended trial today!”

--Exposure:  Satellite and possibly terrestrial and streaming radio.

Details

This project will be worth a total of $5,000 and consists of two phases: an Idea Phase and a Script Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for a GameFly radio script featuring NBA superstar Blake Griffin in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging. The winning Idea creators will receive $500 each and a 5% one-time residual payment if their Idea is the basis for the winning Script. (That means if the winning Script is based on your Idea you will receive an additional $175) – see Script Phase Payout details below.

PHASE 2: SCRIPT – Upload a PDF of your 1-3 page SCRIPT for a 60-second GameFly radio spot featuring Blake Griffin based on one of the winning Ideas. You can use the text box to provide a logline or overview of your Script using 250 characters or less. The most compelling Script will be selected as the winner and will receive $3,500  (minus the 5% residual payment to the winning Idea creator) upon submitting their Winner's Affidavit, IP Assignment, and final revised script. All scripts will remain private until after the Project is complete.

--Script Phase Payout: The winner of the Script phase will receive $3,500 (minus the 5% residual payment to the winning Idea creator) upon submission of their final revised script.
