Background

For over 130 years, National Geographic has funded groundbreaking scientists and empowered trailblazing explorers to share their findings with the world. Today, National Geographic is an iconic brand, revered across the globe. But times have changed – being an explorer means so much more than it did in the late 1800’s. There are “Explorers” - those classic adventurers that we all picture hiking through the rain forest or the Himalayas. But there are also “explorers” – those who are constantly looking to expand their world view and working to deepen their knowledge of the world.

National Geographic wants to reach this new audience of millennials – those with endless curiosity. To get more insight into how to connect with these everyday adventurers, we want to hear your stories of exploration. Think about your everyday life and then tell us a non-fiction/autobiographical Story that answers the following question in 500 characters or less:

Then tell us how your non-fiction story exemplifies adventure and exploration. Please keep in mind that stories don’t have to be related to travel. Exploration can take place in your everyday life in numerous forms like experiencing something new, meeting new people, and acquiring an entirely new perspective on something.  What did you learn from the experience? What did you realize about curiosity and exploration?

The goal of this project is to tell an insightful non-fiction/autobiographical Story for National Geographic that illustrates how curiosity led you to discover something new.
