Background

Objectives

After being postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UEFA Euro 2020 Football Championship will be proceeding in June of this year, and millions of fans across Europe are getting ready to celebrate the return of the beautiful game - and with it, some degree of normalcy. PayPal will be celebrating alongside them, with a European-focused campaign around the tournament. For PayPal though, this isn't about football, it's about the FANS, and all types of fans at that. Some people are fans of the sport, and some people are fans of their nation's, but some people are just fans of good times and and the chance for good food with friends and family.

The goal of the project is to come up with video concepts that feature clever profiles or narratives about unique - and perhaps unexpected - fans, each using PayPal to make a purchase in preparation of gameday festivities. These video concepts should be set against the context of the Euro 2020 tournament, but should not be exclusively about football, and certainly NOT about the actual athletes or teams.

Think about other activities that take plan on or around match day. From the backyard BBQ and the grilling fan, to a fan who maybe enjoys getting together with friends more than the actual match. Think about the casual but ever-so-fashionable fan, the clueless fan, the overly superstitious fan, and even great-grandma - the hardcore, face-painted, flag-waving superfan. Be sweet, sentimental, funny, quirky, cheeky, but always positive and accepting of all these fans.

What are unique personas for fans who are gathering to celebrate the Euros this year? And how are they interacting with PayPal to help support what they love? Your concepts should introduce an interesting fan, along with the scenario in which they are using PayPal.

Tell us your Concept in 250 characters or fewer. Remember, a concept is not a detailed script - it is a spark of inspiration or distillation of what will happen in the video, GIF or meme. As always, concepts should be clever and engaging.
