Background

IMPORTANT NOTE: FINAL DELIVERABLES ARE DUE BY JULY 24th.

In order to be considered for this project, you must be available for the remainder of June and the month of July.

IMPORTANT NOTES FROM SPONSOR:

The LEGO Group is looking for each Video to feature 2-3 unique physical building examples (i.e. building furniture, construction, etc.)

When thinking about casting, each scenario/building example should feature a different parent / child combination.

The LEGO Group is expecting Videos to incorporate VFX and animated elements to bring this concept to life.
--As a reference point, take a look at the
LEGO Juniors Create & Cruise App which does a good job of showcasing the quick-start element of LEGO Juniors. We are actually looking into getting assets from this App from The LEGO Group, which you may be able to leverage in your final Videos should your Pitch be Greenlit.

Pre-schoolers can tell stories and play with anything, anytime. Their imagination and confidence to try new things are endless. There are no boundaries to getting started. That’s why The LEGO Group created LEGO Juniors, which is specially designed for the small hands and big imaginations of kids ages 4-5. These sets are easy to build with, and feature quick-start elements and simplified building instructions, making it a great way to introduce young children to building.

Working with Tongal, The LEGO Group wants YOU to create 2 Live-Action Videos that show Moms how easy building with LEGO Juniors is for their 4 and 5 year olds. Each Video should be a unique variation of the Concept provided below.

Creative Concept:

"What if everything in life was as easy to build as a LEGO Juniors set?" The LEGO Group wants you to riff off of this statement.  What if putting together your bedroom furniture or changing a flat tire on your car were as easy as building LEGO Juniors sets? The world would be a different place. The LEGO Group wants you to use your imagination and creativity to come up with scenarios that bring this Concept to life. Please focus on situations that involve actual, manual building. Situations can be either something anyone might experience (e.g. building an IKEA table) or something that only a trained professional would encounter (e.g. automobile assembly worker in a factory). The Videos should end with children playing with LEGO Juniors products, highlighting the ease with which quick-start elements can be put together.

Additionally, The LEGO Group is looking for each video to be a variation of this Concept – so you can think of the 2 Videos as 2 different approaches to the same creative ask (without having to change your cast, crew, location, etc.). There’s no need for a completely new shoot in order to achieve this.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create 2 (two) :30 Videos and 1 (one) :15 cut-down based on the Concept included in this Brief in order to raise awareness of LEGO Juniors products and educate Moms on how LEGO Juniors differs from other LEGO themes and sets.

Brand Persona: LEGO Juniors is positioned as the youngest entry point for the LEGO system brick. Since LEGO Juniors is targeted to 4-5 year olds, however, the builds feature bigger, “quick-start” elements and simplified building instructions, making it an age-appropriate building experience. One of the key barriers for LEGO Juniors is some moms think that their child is too young for LEGO and its complexity, therefore communicating the quick-start elements and simplified building instructions is the goal of these videos.

Details

This Project will be worth a total of $43,000 and consists of 4 phases: a Pre-Pitch phase, a Pitch Phase, a Pre-Production Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

Attention Filmmakers: This project will include a Pre-Pitch Phase, which gives filmmakers the opportunity to confirm their availability for production and provide samples of previous work. 3 Filmmakers will be awarded $1,000 each to move forward into the Pitch Phase.

Anyone in the community can compete during the Pitch Phase, even if they did not participate during the Pre-Pitch Phase. All Pitches must include all required documents outlined below.

At the end of the Pitch Phase, Sponsors may select final Pitch winner(s) from the group of Pre-Pitch winners and/or other competing Pitches. Please note that Pre-Pitch winners are not guaranteed to be greenlit into production. If you have any questions about Pre-Pitch, please post to our Forum or reach out to us at info@tongal.com.

PHASE 1: PRE-PITCH – Please note, this project has a very tight timeline! Please only apply if you are available during the remainder of June and the month of July. If you are available, please submit:

Three winning Pitch-Qualifiers will be greenlit to create a Pitch and receive $1,000 each. See Pitch Phase for more information.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

The 1 most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $20,000 to help create the Video. Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submissions, you will win an additional $20,000.

For an example of an effective Pitch, check out The Indie Machines winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: PRE-PRODUCTION – The 1 Pitch Winner from the Pitch Phase will enter the Pre-Production Phase (What is a Pre-Production Phase?). During this phase, the filmmaker will need to receive the following Approvals from the brand:

No filmmakers may begin shooting their Video until all Approvals are completed and the Video Phase has officially begun. If you begin shooting your Video during the Pre-Production Phase, there is a chance you will need to reshoot (at your own expense) so please don’t jump the gun.

PHASE 4: VIDEO – Once the Pre-Production Phase is complete, the Pitch Winner will create 2 (two) :30 Videos and 1 (one) :15 cut-down based upon their winning Pitch.

NOTE: The :30 Videos and :15 cut-down are all due at the close of the Video Phase. Please upload them as separate videos.

--Video Phase Payout: Winner of the Video Phase will earn the following prize: 1st place $10,000, 2nd place $10,000.

--Music: Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: JinglePunks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

Tongal members interested in a custom music solution for your project are invited to connect with SCORE A SCORE.
