Background

Launched in 2015 and modeled after private members-only clubs like Soho House, The League is a highly selective dating app devoted to creating power couples from its influential members. They strive to build a community where smart, outspoken, high-achieving individuals are celebrated and encouraged to pursue their ambitions and where equal partnerships are the rule, not the exception.

As a product, The League works extremely well, boasting one of the highest match rates in the industry. Rather than an unlimited stream of prospects, The League gives its users a curated “Batch” of 3 to 8 prospects each day. Features such as League Live, their video speed dating feature allowing users to go on up to 3 three-minute mini dates each Sunday, increase match rate 3x. Additionally, users can browse their ‘Party Scout’ map, make friend requests, join local events and local & global interest-based groups to help daters meet offline and expand their social network.

MESSAGING: At The League, you can have it all, and they want you to. They stand for individuals that are equal in the workplace and equal in relationships with like-minded standards and ambition. The brand suggests choosing one key message, and considering the below key differentiators.

PAST BRAND TAGLINES: These are some of the taglines The League has used in the past that we encourage you to take inspiration from.

Objectives

The League offers a high-quality curated experience for driven professionals who want to cultivate meaningful and loving egalitarian relationships. Since the platform's launch, The League has grown both nationally and internationally, but much of the original user base has successfully settled up and left the app, so the League is looking to you to create an iconic live action video initiating new generations and driving applications to join this dating community.

As the title says, the goal of this project is to increase awareness, drive downloads, and make The League top of mind for career-focused and driven individuals when they are ready to date. The ideal Leaguer is someone who is ambitious and passionate about what they do – no matter what that is. They know what they want and won’t settle for less.

It's important to keep in mind that The League is premium, but not pretentious or elitist. While The League does maintain a waitlist, have standards for admission and is selective in its user base, those measures are in place to build and retain an authentic community of people committed to finding a long-term relationship. Tonally, the brand is refined but not out of touch, so any humor should be smart and witty. (see this slide for more on tone)

The League has the highest volume in urban environments, and although it doesn't have to be in any particular city, the location should feel like an urban center. Check out more information about The League and their messaging priorities for this project in Background.

By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a pitch. Though most projects on our platform do move forward with a greenlit pitch, we will notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any pitches via the project forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and the project team.

Shooting live action or stop motion? Our priority is ensuring everyone's safety, and we're now requiring a COVID safety protocol plan for all relevant productions. Please review our COVID-19 Production Safety Guide and check federal, state, and local rules before and during your shoot to make sure your on-set protocols are up to date. We're working hard to keep people working during this extraordinary time, and you should ensure your submission is executable within the anticipated timeline and budget, while also ensuring everyone's safety.
