USA & SYFY's Chucky TV series is helmed by Child's Play creator Don Mancini and features several fan-favorite cast members like Jennifer Tilly and Brad Dourif (the original voice of Chucky). Everyone's favorite killer doll is back for more! This October, Chucky is slashing his way back onto TV screens for season 2 of the hit series with more excitement, gore, and sinister humor to prove he is, and forever will be, your friend to the end. That's right, get yourself pumped and check out the Season 2 teaser trailer, which promises a second coming you will not soon forget!

To celebrate the new season of USA & SYFY's Chucky series, we're looking for EIGHT different artists and/or animators to design a poster and an accompanying cinemagraph for each of the eight episodes in Season 2. If greenlit, the SYFY creative team will assign you to one of the eight episodes, and you'll get exclusive access to information and imagery from the episode. From there, you'll work with the creative team to design a poster and cinemagraph that touches on the subject or themes of the episode - without giving away any spoilers, of course!

We're looking for people who are talented artists, designers, and animators - but we're also looking for people who are fans of Chucky and the horror genre more generally. Chucky and the Child's Play franchise have been a pop cultural phenomenon for decades, and the killer doll has left an indelible mark on the horror genre. Your design should pay homage to Chucky's legacy while cleverly incorporating content and themes from your assigned episode. 

To give us an idea of the visual approach you're going for, we're asking that you submit links to your artist portfolio, along with a PDF document containing three examples of past work that are representative of the artistic style you'd use to create your design. Since we are also incorporating cinemagraphs this year, it would be great to see an example of work that shows you can elevate a still image into something that has simple but dynamic movement, like this. It's NOT full animation and certainly NOT a video, because that's more movement than we need. This is about adding a little flare that elevates your still image and makes it feel alive. Some obvious ideas would be shimmering flames, dripping blood, strands of windblown hair, flakes of falling ash, etc. Need help with that limited animation? We can make a connection or you can ask in the Project Forum. 

Beyond that, we're looking for a variety of styles and aesthetics, and you're not limited to a specific medium, so you can flex a bit if you can go in a few directions. The important part is giving us an idea of how your personal style and the Chucky universe intersect. To that end, you also have the option to submit a proof-of-concept image if you think that's helpful. Check out more details in the Background section, and then get your pencils, pens, paints, and digital tablets ready. 

Eight winning designers will receive the following:

• Early access to a Chucky information & imagery
• $2,000 to create your assigned Chucky episode poster & accompanying cinemagraph
• Work featured on the official Chucky, USA, and SYFY social channels 

To enter your design submission, you must:

1. Be 13 years or older
2. Log-in to, or create, a Tongal Account
3. Upload your Pitch submission to Tongal through the "Submissions" tab of the project page (above)
4. Fill out the required information on the Submission Form and click "Submit Pitch" button

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

• If you are selected, you're required to deliver your poster design in four sizes:
  • 4x5 - 1080x1350
  • 9x16 - 1080x1920
  • 1x1 - 1080x1080
  • 8.5x11 - 300 DPI
• You are also required to deliver your accompanying cinemagraph in three sizes:
  • 4x5 - 1080x1350
  • 9x16 - 1080x1920
  • 1x1 - 1080x1080
• Depending on the theme of your episode, you MAY depict the likenesses of actors in the Chucky series, but any depictions are subject to talent approval. 
• If you are selected, and working in a digital medium, you will also be required to provide a high-resolution 300 DPI layered PSD of your Artwork.
• ALL design mediums are welcome, whether it's traditional drawing or painting, digital 2D or 3D design and rendering, moving imagery, transmedia, or even sculpture. Both color and grayscale are fine.
• Your Design should be suitable for a general audience.
• Your Design must be wholly original and not previously published, licensed, sold, used, released, distributed, or otherwise exploited in any form. Your Design must not have previously won any award.
• Your Design may NOT include third party materials (e.g., artwork, logos, photographs, etc.).
• You may NOT submit any script or treatment with your Design. Any notes that you include should be limited to explaining and elaborating upon your Design aesthetic.

The Chucky TV Series Episodic Poster Design Project is open for submissions from 12:00 PM PT on Monday, August 15th, 2022, to 12:00 PM PT on Monday, August 22nd, 2022. Submissions not received within this time period will be disqualified. See Official Rules and requirements for eligibility and other requirements.

In order to be eligible for this contest, you must include the below materials in your Pitch submission.

 

• TEXT (REQUIRED): Up to 500 characters synopsizing how you plan to create the still image and accompanying cinemagraph, and what format you'll use (i.e. graphic design, illustration, photograph, etc.).
  
  
• LINKS TO ARTIST PORTFOLIO (REQUIRED): Provide links to your portfolio of work. You can also link to a social media page if that's easiest. Basically, we want to see a collection of your artwork to get a sense of your ability and personal style.
  
  

• SAMPLE ARTWORK (REQUIRED): Upload a PDF document containing three examples of your past work that are most representative of the artistic style you'd use to create a Chucky episode poster and accompanying cinemagraph. Note that if you are selected, and working in a digital medium, you will be required to provide a high-resolution 300 DPI layered PSD of your Artwork.

• PROOF-OF-CONCEPT ARTWORK (Optional): If you want, you may create a proof of concept showing how you'd approach designing a Chucky episode poster if greenlit. Upload an image of your Artwork in either PNG or JPG format.

1. Preferred format for upload to the Tongal website is .png or .jpg. Should your submission be greenlit, you will also be required to provide a high-resolution final image and layered design files.
   
   
2. Unless provided otherwise, all work must be your own original creation and free of any copyrighted material. You shall provide detailed information of your work regarding the source, the creator and background information as requested by Tongal.
   
   
3. BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, YOUR SUBMISSION IMMEDIATELY BECOMES THE SOLE PROPERTY OF TONGAL OR ITS ASSIGNEES – SEE OFFICIAL RULES FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES. YOU MAY NOT PUBLICLY SHARE OR PUBLISH YOUR SUBMISSION IN ANY MANNER AND YOU MAY NOT POST OR UPLOAD YOUR SUBMISSION TO ANY WEBSITE OR HOSTING SITE (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE OR VIMEO), WITHOUT THE PRIOR EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT OF TONGAL. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR ENTRY IN THE PROJECT.
   
   
4. You may not contact any employees or members of the Sponsor’s organization, their affiliates, or any of their partners. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in disqualification of your entry in the project.
   
   
5. Submissions cannot contain any profanity, offensive language, nudity or otherwise objectionable material, the determination of which is solely at the discretion of Sponsor.
   
   
6. Submissions must not portray Sponsor in a negative way, the determination of which will solely reside with Sponsor.
    
7. By submitting to this project, you acknowledge that your work may become subject to public voting on the Tongal site. Public voting may be used to help the project sponsor determine the final rank order.
    
8. Submissions must be in the English language or subtitled.
    
9. Limit 5 submissions per member, per Phase.
    
10. You must be at least thirteen (13) years or older to enter.
    
    
11. The Sponsor reserves the right to repost the contest.
    
    
12. In addition to the judging criteria stated in the OFFICIAL RULES, Pitches will also be evaluated on that member's ability to execute the final Imagebased on their prior work and experience as a filmmaker.
    
    
13. The Sponsor will be entitled to reasonable revisions on the finished Images without providing additional compensation.
    
    
14. In addition to the standard Tongal W-9, Winner Affidavit, and IP Assignment, greenlit Image creators MUST also provide Talent, Location, Music (or other) Releases for all assets appearing in their Images, as well as a photograph/headshot OR copy of a photo ID for all On-camera Talent releases. You must also provide all project files, editing sequences and a 1080p .mov master file, using a ProRes, Animation, or Uncompressed Codec to claim your earnings.
