Source Shows: Here is a list of titles BritBox has provided clips from; you do not need to use clips from every show, but you should plan to combine footage from at least 5 of these series. If you need additional footage, BritBox may be able to provide after greenlight.
INSPIRATION/TONE (visual and tonal inspirations can be drawn from the spirit of the following, seen in BritBox shows):
*This is a quick turn editing project with a final delivery of 6/10*
BritBox's latest campaign, See It Differently (assets here), is all about reframing familiar stories and characters in new perspectives, celebrating hidden gems, leaning into surprising juxtapositions, and captivating the audience with something that resonates. As part of this campaign they have started a series called “Mini Masterpieces,” which are sharp, unexpected social video edits that pull clips from various BritBox titles to illustrate a theme, like "See ‘Weather’ Differently," or "See ‘Mothers’ Differently." For their next "Mini Masterpiece," BritBox is turning to the Tongal edit community to create a social video that celebrates British Dads for Father's Day on June 15, 2015 (or 15 June, for our friends across the pond).
Using clips provided by BritBox, you'll create a humorous and relatable :30 social video that subverts the expectation of a sentimental tribute with clever humor and sly teasing, an ode to the fumbling, forgetful, utterly human dad moments that highlights the comedy (and calamity) of fatherhood done… imperfectly. Think dads who forget birthdays, botch the school run, or still refer to their children as “the small one.” Using the provided standout clips from BritBox comedies, this Mini Masterpiece video should connect with audiences far beyond the shows themselves, making everyone laugh at the idea of the classic lovable but completely out-of-his-depth British dad. You do not need to use clips from every show, but you should plan to combine footage from at least 5 of these series. You will need to edit within the Adobe Suite as the BritBox team works primarily in Adobe and may need to update logos or end cards later. While your video will focus on dads and Father's Day, it is part of the broader "Mini Masterpieces" series (see another "Mondays" example here), and should ultimately make viewers want to binge BritBox. To see a full list of the shows you should look to include and other references or inspiration see the Background.
Using these BritBox assets, you can feature soundbites, visual gags, and unmistakably British moments (passive aggression, blank stares, emotional repression). However, we are not looking for you to just throw a bunch of clips together, instead, your video should have a clear arc or tonal build that leans into the comedy or quick wit with a purpose. This is primarily a supercut of shows, but you can add light motion graphic or on-screen text if it feels fitting to your edit. While not necessary, a cheeky nod to Father's Day is also welcome in the video (e.g. a clip or dialogue with a line like, “Oh...was that today?”).
