Since 1942, the Ad Council has offered trusted advice and inspiring calls-to-action. In fact, they created the category of public service advertising, and their icons and slogans are woven into the very fabric of American culture. The Ad Council is where Smokey Bear lives. The Ad Council saw that “A mind is a terrible thing to waste,” and reminded Americans that, “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk.”
Today, they are working with the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association on Blood Pressure Awareness.
In addition to the instructional element of the video Ad Council would also like to incorporate the following information:
- More than half of adults in the US have high blood pressure and are at high risk for stroke and heart attack.
- American Heart Association and American Medical Association recommend that every person with high blood pressure check their BP each day.
- The #1 thing you can do if you have high blood pressure is check it regularly, so you know if you have it under control and start to understand which factors are putting you at high risk for stroke and heart attack.
- Most people don’t know how to do it correctly!
REFERENCE VIDEOS FOR INSPIRATION OR TONE:
The Ad Council would like to educate people (with a focus on African American women) about how to properly use an at-home blood pressure monitor and why it is important to do so. It may not seem like the sexiest issue, but it’s critically important. Measurement is the #1 thing someone can do towards lowering their blood pressure and, in turn, avoiding more serious health issues later on.
That's where you come in, we are looking for pitches that illustrate how you will make an educational video fun and interesting for the audience so that we can tear down stigmas and hopefully save lives. Your pitch could be live-action, or even animation, whether it's 2D, 3D, or flashy motion graphics.
