Perhaps you’ve seen Seriously’s Best Fiends projects on our site or, better yet, spent countless hours playing the addictively fun puzzle adventure game with RPG elements! If you have, you’d know through world building, character design, and attention to gaming mechanics that Seriously loves gaming. Which is why we have this YouTube video series (EP 1, EP 2, EP 3, and EP 4), made through Tongal, paying homage to 8-bit classics.
Since this first season has been so much fun for the creators and fans alike, we are looking to you, Tongalers, for your concepts on how to take this series to the next level! To this point we have been playing in the early days of gaming. Maybe you believe we should be stepping up to the SNES and Genesis worlds? Perhaps there are video game story tropes of yore to play with? Whatever your great gaming video concept is, we want to hear it!
The goal for this project is to come up with a video concept that describes how to take the Best Fiends video game series to the next level for a second season. We are looking for a concept that will be clear continuation of the series, but marks a next step in the progression of the format and characters. Like season one, your concept should allow for throughline elements that can carry over between episodes.
Please do not simply request that a specific game should be featured. Your concept should describe an alteration to the series format in which could be repeatable across several episodes and pays homage to gaming history in some way.
Concepts should be achievable in short-form video content (less than 4 minutes) and should avoid using specific characters that would be copyright protected.
--Target Audience: Current Best Fiends players, women and men, who are 18-50.
--Tone: Think along the lines of Minions or The Simpsons; funny, but subversive and playful.
Project Details: This Project will be worth a total of $750 and consists of one phase: A Concept Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: IDEA – Tell us your concept for how we can grow and evolve for a new run of episodes of the Best Fiends Video Game Series in 250 characters or less. Remember, a Concept is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Concepts should be clever and engaging. The winning Concept creators will receive $250 each.
