If you’ve ever played Seriously’s hit puzzle adventure game with RPG elements, Best Fiends, you know the world of Minutia is home to dozens of strange and mischievous creatures. With thousands of levels, Best Fiends players have an opportunity to connect with these characters on an unprecedented level. And to mix it up even more, Seriously introduces in-game events and challenges (such as Detective Kwincy, Slug Pirates, and last month’s Carnival) to continue the adventure.
With so much going on in the Best Fiends universe, the fiendish fun shouldn’t have to stop there. Seriously is now looking for Episode ideas that continue to tell stories around the in-game events and challenges for a short-form video series.
The goal for this project is to create a Concept for a single episode of a potential short-form 2D animation video series that generates excitement for the Best Fiends mobile game through entertaining storytelling.
Your episode Concept should describe the plot of a single short-form episode based on the in-game events and challenges (such as Detective Kwincy, Slug Pirates, and last month’s Carnival). It can be a one-off episode narrative or even an episode that kicks off a multi-episode story-arc, however keep in mind that the series will need to allow for individual episodes to follow separate characters and events.
Tone is very important for this project! The Best Fiends game is known for its playful and irreverent humor, and this Concept should capture that same spirit. It will help to familiarize yourself with both the mobile game and existing Best Fiends digital content to get a sense of how these characters communicate and their overarching senses of humor.
The episode Concept should be achievable in a short-form 2D animated video (4 minutes or less), and focus on existing characters and past special events within the game.
--Target Audience: Current Best Fiends players, women and men, who are 18-50
--Tone: Think along the lines of Minions or The Simpsons; funny, but subversive and playful
Project Details: This Project will be worth a total of $750 and consists of 1 phase: A Concept Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.
PHASE 1: CONCEPT – Tell us your Concept for a 2D animated short-form video series episode telling stories around existing special events within the Best Fiends mobile game in 250 characters or less. Remember, a Concept is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video. As always, Concepts should be clever and engaging. The winning Concept creators will receive $250 each.
