Background

Who do you know that a) has the best smile b) always knows what to do when you’re feeling down and c) is always allowed to lick your face as a greeting?

No, not your roommate. YOUR DOG! Your butt-wagging, tail-slapping, ever-loving best friend. When you guys are together, the world is your oyster. Every park bench is there to be peed on, every leg ready to be humped. But when you’re headed to your no dogs allowed workplace, or not dog-friendly grocery store, or sitting in a waiting room at a no dog zone aka dentist’s office, who do you turn to keep you company? Why, BarkPost, of course!

BarkPost needs no introduction. The wildly popular blog created by the most dog-loving company out there, BarkBox, specializes in bring you stories from a dog’s-eye-view. Never sappy, but always light-hearted, being on BarkPost is the second best thing to actually spending time with your right hand--er, paw--man.

Now, BarkPost is turning to YOU, dog-loving Tongalers, to create the most engaging, fun, and shareable Web Series Pilot the internet has EVER seen! That’s right! Hit it out of the park and you might be making a series!

===SPLIT===

BarkBox needs your web series PILOT ideas for videos for their super-popular dog blog BarkPost.

Think: engaging, fun, and shareable Pilot that could potentially turn into a series.

BarkPost is all about stories from the dogs-eye view. Their mission is to tell dogs' stories with the help of humans!

Objectives

The goal of this project is to create 60-90 second web series Pilots that are engaging, shareable and fun! They don’t need to be about the BarkPost itself or feature BarkBox products, so show us your biggest, best, and dog-friendliest Pilots!

A little creative guidance: We’re NOT looking for this parody style or parody styles where you are forcing the dog to fit into a character. The voiceovers with humans anthropomorphizing dogs aren’t quite right for BarkPost. We’re more about getting dogs to interact with things humans are doing. ie: Dogs doing regular dog things and then humans adding voiceovers a la Pug puppies act out Home Alone or Confessions of a Dog Toy.

PLEASE NOTE: In addition to Pitches based on one of the winning Ideas, we will also be accepting Pitches that are NOT based on any of the winning Ideas - also known as a WILDCARD PITCH. To submit a Wildcard Pitch, select "Wildcard" from the Base Idea list instead of one of the winning Ideas.

Details

This Project will be worth a total of $10,000 and consists of 3 Phases: an Idea Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: IDEA  – Tell us your Idea for a BarkPost web series Pilot in 140 characters or less.  Remember, an Idea (What is an Idea Phase?) is not a detailed script; it is a spark of inspiration, or a distillation of what will happen in the Video.  As always, Ideas should be clever and engaging.  The winning Idea creators will receive $250 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Videos based on their Idea. (That means if your winning Idea is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $150, the 2nd place Video $100) – see Video Phase Payout details for more information.

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

PLEASE NOTE: In addition to Pitches based on one of the winning Ideas, we will also be accepting Pitches that are NOT based on any of the winning Ideas - also known as a WILDCARD PITCH. To submit a Wildcard Pitch, select "Wildcard" from the Base Idea list instead of one of the winning Ideas.

The 2 most compelling Pitches will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $2,000 to help create the Video.  Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winners will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $2,000, at a minimum plus a 6-month subscription to BarkBox, and have a chance to compete for the $3,000 First Place video prize (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The 2 winners from the Pitch Phase will each create a 60-90 second Video based upon their winning Pitch.

The Judges will score the 2 winning Videos submitted by Pitch winners to determine the standings for the Video Phase.  Remember, the 2 Pitch winners will receive prizes.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $3,000 and 2nd place $2,000 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable).

--Music:  Tongal has partnered with three premiere music providers: Audioblocks, Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. You may use up to THREE total tracks per Video submission, and they can come from any of the three providers listed above. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential $250 in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
