Color is pure feeling. It influences our emotions, affects our moods, transforms our surroundings, and shapes our world. If there’s one thing our friends at Benjamin Moore have figured out, it’s that color is uniquely personal. What you might see as simply “grape juice” might be“vintage wine” to someone else, That’s why our friends at Benjamin Moore have created an arsenal of tools to help you identify which color works best for your project, works best for you, and helps you find the Inspiration for any space.
In addition to fantastic color samples, Benjamin Moore offers these unique tools:
Color Gallery - a color selection tool like no other. It not only gives you access to Benjamin Moore's complete catalog of more than 3,400 beautiful paint colors, but also creates the perfect color combinations for the colors that you choose.
Personal Color Viewer - a fun, easy-to-use interactive color visualization program that allows you to see how thousands of colors, color combinations, and specialty finishes will look like in any room or exterior surface before you pick up a paintbrush.
Affinity Fan Deck - a collection of 144 gorgeous hues designed specifically to make it easy for you to select beautiful, perfectly balanced color combinations by taking the guesswork out of choosing and coordinating the right paint color schemes for your home.
Color Capture - a Smartphone app which allows you to snap a picture of any color inspiration that catches your eye and instantly find its match from Benjamin Moore’s paint catalog.
Select one of Benjamin Moore’s four color tools (Color Gallery, Personal Color Viewer, Affinity Fan Deck or Color Capture) and create a 30-90 second video telling the story of how Benjamin Moore’s tools can help you “Find Your Perfect Color.” Remember, this is not your typical :30 spot. We’re looking for compelling and creative storytelling here so put pen to paper and generate a well-crafted narrative.
This project will be worth a total of $15,000 and consist of two phases. Also, this tournament style process will progress differently from previous projects, so be sure to read the following information carefully.
PHASE 1: PITCH – Using text (500 characters or less), images (storyboards), video, and/or external links (to other supporting assets, i.e., your reel, etc.), give us your Pitch for how YOU would go about producing a live-action or animated Video that fulfills the Project Objective. The five most compelling Pitches will be selected and the creators of those Pitches will receive a $750 production budget to produce their Video. Those winners will also be GUARANTEED to place in the subsequent Video Phase. So, if you’re Pitch is selected, you will earn a minimum of $1,750 with a 1-in-5 shot at the $7,000 first place video prize. Remember your Pitch can include any, and all, of the assets mentioned above, with storyboards being a particularly effective way of conveying your take. For an excellent example of an effective pitch, check out Robert Deutsch’s winning Dialogue Earth Energy Pitch here. To avoid information cascades, all Pitches will remain private until after the video winners of the subsequent phase are announced.
PHASE 2: VIDEO – The Pitch winners of the previous phase will submit their fully-formed 30-90 second Videos to be evaluated by the Project Judges. The 2nd and 3rd – 5th place winners will each receive $1,250 and $1,000, respectively and the 1st place winner will receive a $7,000 grand prize. An additional non-monetary, Benjamin Moore Color Badge will also be awarded to one of the five video creators for best use of color in a video.
