Background

ATTN FILMMAKERS, PLEASE READ PRIOR TO PITCHING:

Given your overwhelming response to the pitch stage, we have decided that this Cinema Movie has the potential to be the centre-piece of a much bigger campaign, now how Aussome is that!?

To make it so, in your stories we want you to show Aussome women doing even more Aussomer things! At Aussie we believe everything has a “normal” way of doing it and an “Aussome” way to do it. We also believe that already Aussome things can be done in an even more EPIC and breathe-taking way (that’s what we call “more Aussomer”). We want to inspire and encourage all women to go out and embrace their Aussome... don’t be mistaken, we are NOT inviting shy girls out of the shadows to “find” a glimmer of Aussomeness and boost their self-esteem (that’s what other, more worthy and self-righteous “girl power” brands would do). We at AUSSIE are inviting the girls who are already Aussome, and clearly know it, to go out and show the world just how Aussome they are. AND inviting girls to celebrate in other girl’s Aussomeness.

Now, we may have used the word “Aussome” a lot (maybe even over-used it!), so let’s be clear on what we mean with our dictionary definition:

Aussome (Or-Sum) –  Aussome knows how to live life, and lives for the moment. It doesn’t hold back or make excuses, and definitely never says “no.” Aussome is up for anything (within reason of course) and doesn’t wait in line for things to happen. Aussome steals the show, sometimes gets into mischief doing it, but is never out of control. Aussome is real but is never ordinary. Aussome can do anything it wants to do, and does it always in style. Aussome doesn’t take herself too seriously, and is seriously good at it. Anyone can be Aussome, but the most Aussome people show it in everything they do. But most importantly Aussome is warm, genuine and the source of women’s envy, BUT Aussome is not a bitch or an Ice Queen...Aussome is the girl every girl wants to be, and the girl most guys (And some girls) can never get.

Here are some things we think are Aussome:

-          There’s eating Maltesers, and then there’s Aussome blowing a Malteser in the air and catching it in your mouth.

-          There’s crying when you break a heal on your shoe, and there’s Aussome defiantly breaking the other heal and styling it out.

-          There’s running for cover when the rain clouds break, and there’s Aussome dancing in the rain, embracing it in all of its moist glory.

-          There’s climbing Everest because everyone does it, then there’s Aussome who discovers the most beautiful view from the roof top of an old building.

Show us how Aussome you are, by showing us how Aussome Aussie women are.

ALSO: PLEASE INCLUDE MUSICAL INSPIRATION IN YOUR PITCHES. DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A SPECIFIC TRACK, BUT BECAUSE MUSIC WILL PLAY A BIG PART IN THIS, PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE SOUNDTRACK.

The moments before a feature film begins are precious in the movie industry. You’re seated in the audience, popcorn at the ready, excited for the newest Michael Bay rom com starring Shailene Woodley as herself. When all of a sudden, something catches your eye… but it’s not an ad, or a pop-quiz question, or the familiar “Let’s all go to the movies” jingle. It’s a branded short film, and you’re hooked. So conversation-stopping, popcorn-dropping, phone-ignoring that it even makes you forget which movie you were going to see in the first place.

These bonus featurettes were thought to be a thing of the past. Until now. Aussie UK is bringing them back in a new, fun, cheeky and irreverent way. Bigger. More Miraculous. You might even say Voluminous… And they need YOUR help.

Aussie UK is looking to produce an EPIC, breakthrough Short Film featuring hair. Not just any hair. Hair that is full of life, that begs to be lived in, that doesn’t hold you back from doing anything. Hair that looks AWESOME even when blasted by a gust of wind. Hair that somehow looks as gorgeous at the end of the night as it did from the start. You know, that head-turning hair that brings out the green-eyed monster in other women.  Some call it “Lucky Bitch Hair!”

So go on, read the Objectives to find out more. We hair dare you.

Details

Project Details: This Project will be worth a total of $75,000  and consists of 3 Phases: a Story Phase, a Pitch Phase and a Video Phase. Be sure to read the following information carefully as well as the Official Rules.

PHASE 1: STORY  – Tell us your Story for an exciting cinematic video in 500 characters or less.  Remember, a Story is not a detailed script but a synopsis of the basic plot points the video should follow. Perhaps you’d like to follow one of Pixar’s Rules of Storytelling: Rule #4: Once upon a time there was ___. Every day, ___. One day ___. Because of that, ___. Because of that, ___. Until finally ___. Don’t get hung up on details, tell us big chunks of story.

The winning Story creators will receive $500 each and a 5% one-time residual payment for any winning Video based on their Story. (That means if your winning Story is the basis for the 1st place Video, you will receive $2,500– see Video Phase Payout details for more information).

PHASE 2: PITCH - Submit your Pitch (What Is a Pitch Phase?) convincing the Sponsor why you should be selected to execute a Video based on one of the winning Ideas from the previous Phase using:

The 1 most compelling Pitch will be selected and, upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will receive $23,000 to help create the Video.  Additionally, upon submitting a Video that satisfies the criteria laid out in your winning Pitch, the Pitch winner will also be GUARANTEED a winning place in the subsequent Video Phase.  So, if your Pitch is selected and you execute your Pitch effectively in your Video submission, you will win an additional $50,000 (subject to deduction for one-time 5% residual payment to eligible Idea winners). For an example of an effective Pitch, check out Erik Beck’s winning “3 Artists & 5,000 LEGOs” Pitch video. All Pitches will remain private until after the winner of the Video Phase is announced and the Project is complete.

PHASE 3: VIDEO – The 1 winner from the Pitch Phase will create a Video up to 60-second based upon their winning Pitch, with a 20-second cut for social media.

--Video Phase Payout: Winners of the Video Phase will earn the following prizes: 1st place $50,000 (less any 5% one-time residual payments paid to the Idea winners, as applicable).

--Music:  Tongal has partnered with two premiere music providers: Killer Tracks and Epidemic Sound. Any of which can be used to source music for your Video submission to this Project. Music from these providers is available to registered Tongal members at no charge solely for their incorporation into Submissions to this Project and will not require a separate Music Release Form. To learn more about using each of these music providers, click on any of the provider’s names above.

If you are selected as a winner and choose to use custom/original music, you must fill out and submit our Music Release Form. If you obtain music from other catalog providers, you must purchase the appropriate license at your own expense and submit it with our Music Release Form when you turn in your Video paperwork.

--Referral: Any Tongal member who refers one of the winning Video creators in this Project using the Tongal “Invite Friends” functionality will receive a referral fee equal to 5% of the amount won. That’s a potential $500 (up to $500 per place) in bonus cash just for telling all of your talented friends about this Project! Check out more about our Referral Program in FAQ.
