Background

VIDEO CONCEPTS - Your pitch should include your executional take on one or all of these five concepts:

1. Traffic School: An over-the-top Soap-style comedy about "Traffic School" and the running joke about how it is only an hour long, but full of drama. Similar to shows like Riverdale or Melrose Place. We imagine there is a bad boy, a nice girl, a new transfer student, or even a teacher with a secret. Over the top and amusing, this would be intentionally exaggerated so as not to be taken seriously.

2. Guess that Weird Sound: An educational video that helps viewers identify certain weird noises that may signal maintenance needs. Think about brake squeaking as a sign to change your brake pads, and so on.

3. Beginner Auto Parts:  We give people (non-auto experts) various car parts/items that can be found at Advance Auto Parts and get them to describe its function. Even if they are unsure, we ask them to take an educated guess for the sake of comedy before revealing the correct answer.

4. Freestyle Mechanic TikToker: Feature a mechanic or auto expert who can rap hip hop auto-themed tips and tricks for car care. (Similar to the TikTok Chiropractor)

5. Meme the Car Faces: Show the front of various cars that headlights and grill seem to look like a face. Use text or dialogue to come up with funny expressions and reactions the cars appear to be making. (EX: The front of a Ford Taurus looks like it has a sweet toothless grin so you write the text “When you can’t find your dentures but are too happy to care”)

Objectives

As one of the leading automotive suppliers for motorsports fans, DIY mechanics, and car enthusiasts alike, Advance Auto Parts is known for their automotive expertise. Advance is now looking to find ways to entertain and encourage their online community by creating captivating videos for their TikTok channel.

Earlier this month, we sourced clever, engaging, and unique thumb-stopping concepts from the Tongal community, of which a plethora were chosen by Advance. We’ve listed five of those concepts in the Background that we would love to hear your take on. In your pitch materials, please include five or more creative video executions based off these five concepts, and tell us how you would bring them to life on TikTok.

For your pitch, we’re asking that you illustrate your creative approach for one or more of the five concepts, so make sure the base of the idea remains, but feel free to put your own spin on the concepts. You should make sure to give a good sense of exactly what your videos will look and sound like, including potential dialogue, sounds, and actions. These should be made to connect organically with viewers in their feed or “For You” pages and will drive viewers to come back to the Advance TikTok channel on a routine basis to see what they are going to post next. We are ideally looking for live action videos, but if you have a thoughtful or creative way to incorporate animation, stop motion, or motion graphics, we would be open to seeing those approaches.

Though you cannot use trending audio from TikTok in your videos, we suggest and encourage you to remake the trending sounds yourself. If you have seen recent videos with laughable audio tracks of a particular line or music, grab a mic and recreate the sound in your own voice. Are music and audio not your forte? No worries, still make sure to submit your video ideas and you can plan to use one of our music providers, or music from the TikTok Business Music Library.

While Advance is primarily looking for one creator to create all five concepts, there is a chance Advance may want to “mix and match” pitches from different creators. If that’s the case, Tongal will reach out to all creators individually to work out a revised budget based on your bid to execute your concepts.
